I have done quite a few articles to showcase my 3D illustrations but I thought it would be fun to show a few concept sketches & renders against a photograph of the finished room to see the comparison between the two.

Bellesum, thank you very much for the suggestions. Sounds lovely, however, this is an area for the dog when we are at work and at night, so we would not want to close this off. Can I just say thank you for all the input into the finishing touches. Didn't think we would be building more furniture here, but loving the idea of the bench, really excited about getting him to start making this! I will slowly wear him down r.e painting the radiator cover, as agree that in cream it would look better. This will take time though lol Just to ask further :) the doors, this is a temporary fix. This house was a real tip when we moved in, and some temporary fixes have been put in place i.e eyesores that I could not live with and know will take time to get round too, so needed to make ok. I like the door, but my hubby doesn't, I take on-board what has been said by JPP221 - if you have any suggestions for this, please say. Thank you again x

Hi There, Lighting is so important so it would be a great idea to consider using table lamps in different corners if you have available plug sockets. Mirrored or glass lighting as pendant shades would also give off more light and reflection to brighten up your hallway. I would also consider your colour palette. As Tom suggested a bright White or light colour and painting the woodwork would lift the whole space. You could also add some metallic, silver, gold and glass accessories to brighten up the hallway. I would add colour, perhaps change the floor depending on budget and add some nice storage where you hang your clothes rather than leave it open. You can have some kind of console under the stairs with lighting and a round mirror to make the place look spacious and perhaps small pendants , 3 or so, along the corridor. Definitely looks like it needs brightening up and lighting is key. However of course it depends on what you doing with the rest of the house, for example you could even change the stairs and have a nice runner . It is not just the hallway, but the entrance to your house and it all has to flow!
