Puppy proof rug
Comments (35)Hi, I love this room and Hague Blue is one of my favourites! I would suggest a flat weave rug for this space. Flat weaves tend to be easier to clean as the dirt doesn't as easily get into the fibers, and they don't pull by little paws so easily. They have worked really well in my own home with three small children (and two dogs we often dog sit)! With regards to flat weave/dhurries there are lots of options. Safavieh has some great dhurrie rugs at a reasonable price point on Wayfair, so that might be worth exploring. West Elm has some wonderful kilim style rugs that would suit your modern space quite well too, and I believe many are on sale at the moment. Another suggestion might be a natural fiber rug like a jute with a cotton border which can be ordered online by the sq ft very easily. Both the internal rug and the outer border come in a variety of shades and materials to suit your budget and taste. A final suggestion would be to look at some indoor/outdoor options which are made from a really soft plastic (many you wouldn't even know are plastic) and can literally be hosed off in the garden. Check out Dash and Albert. Otherwise, have the white vinegar ready and enjoy your puppy! Hope this was helpful!...See MoreNew rug!! Not sure if it right!
Comments (11)I'm a high end kitchen designer, and here are my thoughts on what the issues are here: Firstly, I actually think the rug is too close to the TV unit. A strip of floor in-between would look better. Could the sofa and rug be pulled away 20 to 30cm? This would make the scale feel more correct. I also do not think the dining style chairs at the end of the rug look substantial enough. I would change these for a really funky accent armchair, perhaps in a raspberry colour, or a teal blue. If you still want two chairs here a couple of small tub chairs on a slightly jaunty angle, facing slightly in towards each other would also work. You definitely need to add a pop of colour here to make the room come to life. As well as a coloured accent chair I would add some bright cushions, perhaps in a mustard yellow! I do like the use of different sizes and shapes of cushions you have. When you have a coffee table move the vases from next to the TV to make a center piece on the coffee table. The TV unit looks too cluttered at the moment and this will make the room look "put together"....See MoreRug, side and coffee table design advice please!
Comments (17)Thanks everyone, this is so helpful!!! Dundrum that made me chuckle. I will stick to my guns but sadly the retailers have an aversion to pistachio. Went round huge Next home store today, tonnes of curtain fabric options in all colours except pistachio!!! Grrrr! Thank you again Man about House, I will persevere and I covet your curtains!!! I think I may well get the original rug you found! Thanks Laura will also look at French Connection, who would have thought! The parquet floors are from 1962 and I am chuffed to bits how they have come up, waited 3.5 years to do them! Angie and celery girl, very good points re rug size, my last Ikea one was definitely in the "not this" category!! Thanks also for the image celerygirl, I like the poufs very much but the trouble is the room is Lshaped and the walkway goes past them Any views on the coffee table dilemma everyone? As for brown sofa wish could replace asap. Would you believe someone gave me a beautiful South African wood sideboard and I kept it for a few years until eBaying it for a pittance! I even tried it in the space, see pic, yikes, I thought it was too dominant but maybe not....!...See Morekitchen rug dilema
Comments (4)I Wouldn't have a rug in my kitchen, I always trip over a rug, kids too and my kids spill stuff everywhere so it couldn't stay clean. Ud sort the backsplash first, then decide on rug. Silly as it sounds, the pic on my phone looks like you have a backsplash behind the hob! The colour goes really well too....See MoreLauren Brown
