My wooden kitchen work surface need to be covered or changed?

Water has got to the back of it and wondering if I can cover it simply so it looks smart without taking the wood away? thanks

I agree with Emanuelle. I think wood brings warmth to schemes like this. I have also lived with wood worktops and love the fact they can be sanded and resealed. I have broken so many lovely places on my granite, but it does look nice too. I think your issue is with tone, not colour. The floor is tonally dark and almost everything else is light. As long as the worktop is in between tonally it should be down to your personal preference.

Hello Caro, That is a spectacular kitchen and the second I have seen on Houzz that's similar.. The other was yellow but the owners ripped it out! I am very glad you're keeping yours.. The fridge is wonderful too... What would really make this stand out is if you could find a home for the pans... So the kitchen remains sleek... Could I suggest a warmer lighter granite for the worktop or perhaps a worktop that would compliment the look like Formica! ... I think black would be too harsh here.. Something with blue in would be good too so it compliments the tiles... OR keep what you have as it looks blue.... You could have blue as a theme for the flooring too... Are you changing the flooring?.. Asifa, thanks for your comments, appreciate the photos as it helps put things in prospective. I'm looking at getting a Quartz brand CQ Maderia which is busier than anything I've used before so just a bit scared I'll look at the finished product and think What have I done! On the other hand really tempted to risk it.

Although the quality of the door front does influence the price so do lots of other features and so you need to decide what is most important. If it were me I would firstly want lots of drawers rather than cupboards as this means better access to the contents. I would want the appliances to be good quality and integrated and I would want a quality work surface. These things all make more difference to the price than the quality of the door front. Then I would look at the house to consider if a traditional door or something handleless suits the architecture best. Assuming the choice is traditional a panel door or in frame or features such as beading or quirks and feature units or matching end panels (so the amount of construction involved in the face of the kitchen) all influence the price more than the door material. The choice of having a smooth painted finish versus a wood grain painted finish is a personal choice. I am torn between the idea that wood grain shows where you have spent your money versus a smooth painted finish that is probably a little more fashionable now and replacing the wood grain finish. I dispute that only real wood kitchens can be repainted to ring the changes as sanding paint work is not the only way of preparing a surface to paint it. I will conceed that you don’t have to get as good a paint finish on a wood fronted kitchen as an HDF door that has no graining to hide imperfections in paint which means the best finish requires spraying.

PIcs would be handy. If it's solid wood ie beech block, then it will just need to get dried out, the whole surface sanded back and then re-oiled. It's a little labour intensive, but not difficult.

I'm doing one at the moment as it happens!
