Hi! Thanks for your interest. The bathroom dimensions are 9'-6" x 5'.

Hi. There are a couple of factors to consider such as how deep your peninsula is and the ceiling height available. If you have a double depth peninsula (e.g. 1200-1300d) then the fitting can sit a little lower over the worktop area without risk of hitting your head on it, I would then position the pendant approx 700mm from worktop height to underside of pendant. If however you have a narrower worktop, I would raise the fitting by 200mm to 900mm from top of worktop. Ceiling height, the typical ceiling height in the UK is 2.4m (but if you live in a town house you could have ceilings of 4m or a beamed cottage, scraping 2m if lucky) base on the above information you will have approx 800mm between underside of pendant and ceiling (based on the wider peninsula dims). I would look for a fitting approx 400-500dia and 200-250mm high. this allows for 550-600mm gap between top of fitting and ceiling. Edited: Just seen your post above that your ceiling is 9ft (2.74m) therefore you could look for a fitting that is even upto 400mm high and will still read well within the space If you would like any help sourcing a fitting meeting these dimension, please contact me directly. I totally understand that. I just finalised a project for a client that had a very narrow and long kitchen, we used a narrow storage wall for this and it worked beautifully. One needn't necessarily "compromise" between bath and shower here; they're not entirely trivial to find but a small number of manufacturers make _square_ (or at least, near-square / wide) shaped bathtubs (Japanese soaking tub style) at about 120cm width. I've found: https://www.livinghouse.co.uk/acatalog/square-lounge-bath.html https://www.omnitub.co.uk/products/omnitub-duo-plus Such make a very luxurious bath (if money's no object, even a whirlpool / steam shower setting) while also providing more than ample space for great showering. Yes, you'd probably need to have some small steps built to enter the bath. And a concern would only be whether the floor is strong enough (when used as a bath, it makes a difference whether there's 300l or 150l water in the tub). Diagonally-installed corner baths may also be an option (quite a bit cheaper), something like: https://victoriaplum.com/product/orchard-wharfe-corner-bath-1200-x-1200 which would also allow a better shower experience than a 70cm-wide standard bath. Not as deep as a soaking tub / wouldn't need steps. If going for something like that, I would actually "box-off" the corner and turn it into shelving for storage, so the bath turns into a bit of an "enclosed niche", something like: I wouldn't go for a freestanding bathtub; the narrow spaces would make it challenging to clean.

Wow thank you everyone for all your suggestions and help with this. So many good ideas and things to think about! @tim-baker921 thanks for pointing out that a corner WC could work with the initial design put forward by us... it's a good to hear that although we do now agree with the advice from on here that it is better not to reposition a WC too far away from the soil pipe, so we have gone off that design a little. @Phil West, we totally get what you said about the finish being more important than the quantity of amenities. And we agree that it's things like nice lighting and attractive niches that'll make the difference to the overall result. I have no doubt that when the time comes I'll be scouring houzz and Pinterest for ideas and inspiration! @Wendy, thanks for your suggestion, we are open to the idea of a smaller bath if it would make for a better layout work but I have been trying to visualise what you mean... is the position of the "2m" high wall that you describe meant to be cutting straight through the main window? Surely I have got it wrong! I'm wondering if you meant shower on the left (external wall) as suggested by Jonathan? I liked Jonathan's suggested layout but the difficulty is that the wall between the small window and the far left corner is only 69 cm. In addition, the soil pipe is in the far left corner too so it would need boxing in, thus reducing the available floor space ifor a shower in that corner, My husband says he could box the soil pipe in and possibly create a useful ledge within the shower... and I have been thinking perhaps we could gain a bit of extra shoulder space by using a bow shaped/ curved door so perhaps all is not lost! So anyway folks, as you can see we are still dithering about whether we can have a separate shower or shower over the bath. We are still leaning towards the latter. If anyone has any thoughts on this they would be most welcome :)
