How would you dress this fireplace / wall?
Comments (19)Hi Gina, I think your two options are either to try to conceal the fact that it is not centered or to really play with it. It's quite difficult to hide it but for example if you had plants as tall as the fireplace you could put one on each edge and by hiding the edges like that and covering the walls on each side you will decrease the off-centered effect. Another way as some people have already said is to add an oversized wall art piece which will take the attention away from the small off-centered fireplace and onto the art. For oversized wall art have a look here: http://www.hutsly.com/collections/wall-art/product-type_canvas-print. I would suggest a portrait format which would go better on that wall. Maybe something like this: And if you wanted to play with the asymmetrical aspect I would definitely go for a mix of round mirrors and prints in different styles like the ones we have here : http://www.hutsly.com/collections/wall-art/product-type_art-print. We do also have mirrors. And last little suggestion about the top of you cupboards, those are great to add a little collection as suggested in this article. Something like that: You could go for glass vases like these for example: Available here. Hope that helps!...See MoreFireplace feature wall dilemma - Bold and beautiful OR subtle and calm

Comments (17)Such an interesting room full of gorgeous pictures and books. I love books! Now colours that I think would look lovely with your blue curtains are the soft pastels - green, pink and pale yellow, but you want a deep cosy colour so let’s move on! I’m a little bit obsessed with dirty pinks at the moment, a world away from Barbie pink so don’t panic. Colours like F&B Setting Plaster or Little Greene’s Dorchester Pink, or Blush which is much darker and cosier. I also like deep stone colours such as LG Roman Plaster, or if you wanot to go even darker, Silt looks nice, very organic tones. I’ll try and find some pics. I’ve no idea how to photoshop, but I’m sure someone will!...See MoreFireplace wall unit ideas
Comments (3)The heat from the gas fire builds up in the faux chimney so needs an outlet and ventilation. On mine, this is at the rear (external wall) and grills side of chimney breast - they do get hot. (The TV doesn’t). We did not want to store / display anything at the side so this was not a problem to us. Our “before” looks very similar to what you have. Possibly because of the heat maybe why there are not many images associated with gas fire tv above. If you haven’t already tried, you may find the arrangement you are looking for / ideas by searching for electric fire tv above or going on different manufactures websites. If you see something you can then find out if this is suitable for gas fire....See More- 6 years ago
