Hiya. I found the original blog and it's actually an oilcloth from John Lewis. it doesn't appear to be available anymore but check ebay. Wallpaperdirect have a teal polar bear paper but it's not so striking. The colour is Benjamin Moore Jamaican Aqua so not available in the UK.

Hi, Too much light at one end of a room eg Bi-fold + Rooflight makes one end of the new space very bright and the other end comparatively dark. The contrast in light and dark within an extended living space can lead to a cave corner or even whole original room being cave like and a bright area in the extension only. In general useful daylight travels twice as far into the room as the top of the window. This is why I nearly always recommend tall glazed gable facing the garden to capture this useful light without. High ceiling heights and tall windows have the same effect. The Georgians know what they were doing.

I can’t find anything that would corroborate what you have been told about flat roof windows letting in a different amount of light from a lantern- it seem more likely that the size of aperture in the ceiling dictates how much light comes in and perhaps what you have been told it’s that lanterns allow larger apertures but as you know that causes problems with placing lights. Consider more than one to allow a waterfall of light into specific areas. Don’t forget that you can add an LED to the inside of the apertures in the ceiling as an alternative to ceiling spots.
