Are the squares concrete or aggregate?
What are dimensions of squares?
What is the width of the turf strips?
What is the maintenance of the turf strips?

I am not certain of the slab dimensions but it is Bluestone. The joints are 6" and all artificial so there is virtually no maintenance.

I'm not sure if they're more fashionable? My personal preference is typically rectangular. Tiles laid in a grid pattern means you get a long grout line and leads your eye onwards so makes the space feel bigger. Laying them diagonally means you still get the long grout line but you don't "see" the edges so it feels bigger still. Large tiles are generally much better to create the feeling of space, less grout lines so less busy. It does mean your floor needs to be really level though. You also need to be careful tHat it doesn't become busy by the number of cuts needed for the tiles though!

Hi Zack, grout line in the middle is not very nice and it's normally avoided. 60x60 tiles are more modern compared with 45x45 but generally speaking you should run one full tile 60x60 in the middle and two halves on each side. If you have a good quality picture of your hallway and a quality picture of the tile(s) I can generate a CGI (computer generated image) to show you what your hallway would look like. Depends on the size if the kitchen and if you like to see lots of lines. Larger tiles can be used in a small room as they give the perception of size. You could go 500 x 500 or 450 x 450.
