Comments (0)Help, im renovating my modern ‘farmhouse‘ and having completed upstairs in grey, beige, sand and white colours (with the odd blue in bedrooms and bathroom) im renovating the kitchen so chose cashmere for the units This was partly because I didnt want to overload with the grey factor (the hall and landing are grey) and because I wanted some warmth and practicality. im having a stone effect floor tile in the kitchen, hall and utility. I thought some contrast in the kitchen would be good to break up the greige so choose black pearl granite. Now what do I do for walls? Make the units recede with similar paint or go lighter? i think elephants breath may be too dark as its north east but if its similar to the cabinets wouldnt that lighten the room? skimming stone is a colur picked out in the floor tile but will that clash with the granite? Maybe I should cancel the black granite? it took ages choosing to stay in budget and if I choose steel grey agranite i think there would be too many clashing patterns. Help! i also want a very durable paint so I was thinking Dulux Easycare maybe colour matched to skimming stome but Ive heard its a dreadful match! Floor tiles shown below with a kitchen photo I was using for inspiration at the start of plan, my units are a darker colour though (cashmere). 5 years agolast modified: 5 years agoCashmere is one of those colour names that is confusing. It's hard to comment without seeing it but if you look at the following image it shows what I think is a colour clash:
The cashmere doesn't seem to go with the white tiles and clashes horribly with the worktop which looks blue. The cashmere has red in it and so it needs a sympathetic floor like this:
There are so many tiles out there you should be able to find something and a decent tile showroom should have someone who can pick out the different underlying hues in the tiles and find a match to the cashmere. Cream could also clash with the purpley red of the cashmere, they are opposite on the colour wheel. Don't restrict your tile choices, go to showroom that has a huge range of different neutral coloured tiles and bring them home and look at them with a sample door.raj ramadass thanked Juliet Docherty

Cashmere kitchens can vary in colour depending on the brand and make so it'll be useful to get a tile sample up against the cabinet doors.
What worktop have you gone for?
We too have a cashmere gloss kitchen and opted for wood effect tiles. I quite like the floorings Howdens have paired with there Burford cashmere and clerkenwell stone kitchen in there brochure...It offers a nice contrast whilst complimenting the colour.
