The tile has sadly been discontinued. The towel rail is the Apollo. We sell them. :-)

We left our underfloor heating behind at a previous house - and I was glad to see the back of it. Once warmed, it stayed warm - and if the temperature outside rose, suddenly the house became a hotbox. When sudden cold snaps hit, it seemed to take forever for the floor to catch up. Spring and fall were the worst seasons, floor-heating-wise. Bypass a radiator to keep one room cooler... turn up one radiator (bathroom) to warm a particular room... and radiators give you a place to put a drying rack. Yes, give me radiators any time. I've got fuzzy slippers for cold floors.

Unfortunately, MRSA is all over, not just lurking in hospitals anymore. My nephew contracted it when he was about 18 months old. The doctors had strict guidelines to follow for prevention of further outbreaks for both him, and the entire family. My sister was told that everyone, not just families that are dealing with MRSA, should wash towels after every use with bleach as a means to kill any of the germs. bTW, my sister has always kept a spotless home, so it wasn't like this is a home with full of excessive germs.

My kitchen refit starts 3 weeks today but won't be finished until next year when I have decided on the splash backs. This has been a project 2 years in the making due to several builders agreeing to do the work only to never hear from them again & also some very poor service from kitchen shops. Finally I have a builder on board who will move a doorway to accommodate the new position for my fridge freezer and fit a Second Nature kitchen in elm that is to replace an old cream shaker one. Most of the appliances are staying as they are newish but for the first time I will have a dishwasher, a wall mounted oven so I can see what is cooking & a Franke under mounted corner sink which was a brand new ebay bargain. I am switching from gas to a white induction hob that will hopefully fit seamlessly into white quartz countertops. I am so excited, all this in a 2.6m x 2.8m kitchen. I have also asked the countertop peeps to smooth off an additional piece of quartz to fit the sink aperture so I can use that as additional work space. I am boring my boyfriend with endlessly searching for the best deals on things and trying my luck haggling which is not usually like me but lots of fun! Good luck everyone with your projects; I look forward to seeing the 'after' pictures. alant1000 - I love your new kitchen, it looks fab!

Dutch 1950s house here. First thing we did was insulate insulate insulate. The exterior walls are made of 13cms thick concrete, so we used high end bubble foil and plasterboard (plus loads of slats and screws) to insulate all the walls and double layer of rockwool on the attic floor (attic remained as it was built, because the wooden structure was meant to breathe). Then took out the pine floors and insulated some more before placing the pine back. All of this diy, which I bet we've already earned back twice in the past 8 years, saving on heating bills! We also spent a small fortune on hr+ pvc windows, but the comfort (and silence) is amazing! All well worth the money. We keep our heating on 16/17C, because moist (and mold) was a major problem in here before we moved in. And when we get home/up and turn it to 19/20C, it only takes about half an our to get there. The bedroom radiators are mostly on the frost-free position. Our central heater (gas) is a model from 1994 but serves us well. So does our wood burner, which we ocassionally use in winters. Our home's footprint is 6.5x6.5m, so it takes about 5 small logs to heat our livingroom to 24 degrees, the benefits of a small home!
