Kitchen help - what can we do to make it look better?
Comments (65)Depending on how far you budget goes, I would look at adding traditional cornice and pelmet and replacing the plinth with a similar oyster colour. End panels for wall units could also be replaced / added. Some chessboard style tilling in 3 colours would also bring out the walls. It's hard to tell but is the oak surround also on the wall units? I haven't checked your location but this is something we can help with...See MoreKitchen DIner Extention Inspiration needed
Comments (12)Yes I liked the first pic just with the dark greys. The dishes will look great on the wall! If you do want to add colour though why not just build on the green and blue accessories you have? Perhaps add a large piece of art over the sofa in deep greens and blue? It doesn't have to be botanical, an abstract might also work. I quite like this one on the link. Then pick up the colour for a cushion another geometric or an ikat could work, maybe with a little fuschia in. I agree with MATH, I might move the fridge to the opposite wall. It's hard to tell from the pics what's there though. You could always buy a plantation style screen to hide it and maybe paint it in a deep Caribbean blue. I like your light but wonder if the room needs something more substantial like a large wooden/ply style? I'm not sure if tiles are needed as you've got an upstand and splashblack? The splashblack may break it up a bit? I personally quite like that wall white as the boiler blends in https://attikoart.com/collections/all/products/marino-stone...See MoreHelp! Comments (2)First congratulations on your baby! You didn't mention if the kitchen would stay. If the kitchen goes, I'd keep the room as open as possible, which means compact kitchen and thus real thoughtful planning. You'd like to keep an eye on your kid the upcoming years. What's on the wall opposite the stove? (a floorplan with measurements would help a lot to receive great ideas, btw) I'd place a dining table in your kitchen. This way you can have a cot in the living area. And in about 6 to 8 months, your little one will be sitting with you at the table, making a mess. Note: your tv is way too high (no neckpain while watching?) and too large. And is this the only reception room aka living room aka great room? :)...See MoreInspiration needed for a non-standard kitchen design
Comments (20)Wow, thanks for the replies everyone... especially Minnie!!!!! I LOVE the first one you posted and that is exactly what I had in mind!! (The cabinet shelves at the very back of the picture!) I think they look incredibly stylish and I would imagine it will be much cheaper getting a carpenter making that instead of buying a complete (real wood) kitchen. Re the washing machine and dishwasher, yes I have these and don't mind them being on display. I also have marble worktops, hence wanting a solid base for them to go on. Is that first picture a deVol kitchen too? I wonder how much they could do one like that for?...See MoreEllie
