non symmetrical TV stand

Happy New Year everyone!

I am looking for a non symmetrical corner TV stand…this L shaped one is a good example but I want a straight front (like the red arrows I’ve added on the second pic) rather than right angled. I’ve searched the web but nothing is coming up…the stands are either symmetrical triangles, rectangular or similar. I’m surprised there is nothing out there (that I can find!)…has anyone seen one or does it look like bespoke is the only option…or we could have the TV on the wall with a pull out bracket of course! Just looking at options!

I had one similar to that. It was bespoke made so I think that may be the route you will have to take.

Would you consider a couple of shelves? I saw this photo years ago on Pinterest and have copied the design in my own house (and subsequently two different friends have copied it too!). We also had shelves made above and in the opposite alcove - all for under £300.

Firstly, your living room looks amazing!! I think that it does need something else though. Nesting tables/side tables would be great. Try something like these? These would look great as they'd match your current colour scheme. These lightly gold coloured nesting tables would look elegant and compliment your blush/neutral coloured sofas and table lamp. Also, might be good to add some extra accessories that are a little different such as - Coral pieces always add a unique touch to any home and these would definitely match your colour scheme perfectly. Glass squat jars are extremely popular at the moment, with this smoked one you could leave it empty or fill. If you're looking for a mirror, these would look lovely above your fireplace as theyre elegant and charming but also unusual which will attract attention to the centre which would hopefully help even out. No big TV! I know what my OH would say to that He couldn’t wait to get the big ass latest 4K tv. It would be a shame to lose the fireplace as it is a nice feature ( I’ve got nothing against traditional features) but if you have a nice one elsewhere in the house and this room is primarily for tv viewing then I’d be tempted to lose it. If you leave a small opening of the fire place you could do like Resh said and have a small gel burner, candles or some logs with fairy lights. Or maybe stash the AV equipment in there and cover with fire screen in front, back lit with orange Led lights so it kind of looks like a fire but isn’t. Dark colour walls sound fab, my only problem is I think the radiator will stick out like a sore thumb, so either paint it same colour as the walls, cover it, or maybe replace with one of them fancy Victorian style column radiators.

I think alignment would be a better focus rather than symmetry. For example, the drawers at the bottom lining up with the shelf divides. I would personally remove the drawers under the fire and make more of a feature of the fire place/area. There‘s a lot of dead space above the TV, could you maybe add an enclosed shelf a top-opening door? It could be in line with the top most shelf on the left. Could you paint the vent the same colour and finish as the walls to make it blend in?

Hi Alice, Hope you're well! I love the space - how lovely and light! And great colour choices too with the blue! Personally, I would have the bespoke cabinetry go from wall to wall. You'll make the most out of the additional storage you'd like, and honestly, if you left a corner free from the cabinetry, it will end up becoming dead space anyway. You'd most likely end up putting some form of storage in the space, or plant to fill it up! It doesn't matter if it's not symmetrical. There are fabulous ways to create a beautifully designed piece of bespoke cabinetry in non-symmetrical forms. If you need any help with designs, do let us know! Kate Studio Heim Interiors

Sarah that looks great…we don’t have a wall or alcove though so would need some other support that wouldn’t hinder the useable space…I guess like the metal posts that are used in floating shelves. Thanks for the idea, something to think about for sure!!
