Thanks! The ridge in the vaulted space is at 19'-7" above the finished floor.

Hello, I have searched for some images for your inspiration. As you on the the first two images, there is gap as well between the wardrobe and ceiling. If you believe visually it works for you, than go ahead. Alternatively, you could place some baskets as well on the top for extra storage, personally I would consider it if that helps. On the last two images, you can notice that the ceiling is high and the wardrobe is reaching the ceiling. I have the same in my bedroom and love all the space I have even if I need a chair to reach the top cabinets (I store there stuff I hardly ever use), so all the space is used up for storage. I say don't move sown your built in wardrobe to the middle. On the right I love that sitting corner, where you also have light entering your room. Looks pretty nice, stick to your plan! lighting arrangements in vaulted extension

Hi, Looking at your plans, most of the kitchen is in the existing part of the house and the extension is more for the living room area. Am I correct? With this in mind, the lighting requirement is different as the lighting will be used for creating a more relaxed mood than the task lighting required for a kitchen. I assume that you will have a sofa and possibly a TV or AV/hifi system in the room. I would look at using different lighting circuits within the area. This allows you to create different lighting 'scenes' depending upon your mood and what the room is used for. This would be the same for traditional or contemporary lighting. 1- A '5Amp' circuit. This is a circuit of wall sockets connected into the lighting circuit. The sockets are rated at 5 Amps and have a special plug. This allows table/floor lamps to be plugged in and controlled from a single switch or dimmer. The sockets would be placed around the edges of the room where you would like the lamps to be. If you know where a table will be in the middle of the room, it is possible to fit the 5Amp sockets in the floor too under the table. 2- You could use LED tape around the edges of the Velux windows. The tape is hidden from view when off and creates a soft glow around the windows. I have had a bit of difficulty finding a picture of this. However, in the swimming pool picture below, imagine that the roof is a window and the blue colour is white.... I know it's not ideal, but hopefully you get the idea. I will try and find a better picture. 3- The rooms is quite large at 5m wide with a wall height of 2.8m. If you wanted, you could definitely use some pendants in the middle for a great visual effect. Depending upon the type of pendant, these would either throw light around the room or create warm pools of light in the centre. 4- Due to the width of the room, wall lights would create create light at the sides of the room and leave the centre a bit darker. If you have artwork, you can use lights over the pictures for great effects. 5- Finally, one more option would be to use catenary wire lights. This is a low voltage lighting system that uses one or two cables fixed across the room. The light fittings are then attached to the cables. It allows you to have lights in the middle of a room without having to attach them to the ceiling: Catenary lighting Hopefully, this will give you some ideas. I think this looks great. Could I please ask is the ceiling brilliant white? In my experience decorators are a bit old school about ceilings and radiators being bright white but in my opinion painting the radiator in Dix Blue would make it disappear. In my opinion the slightly vintage feel of Dix blue is better suited with a soft or aged white- I like Cornforth White for its grey quality which in my opinion only looks grey when contrasted against brilliant white but would soften the look in this room.

Hi Jo, Love the high ceilings. Having floor to ceiling wardrobes may be quite overpowering in the room and take over from the space. My thought would be to have a partial wall behind the bed that would create a walk in wardrobe and then place the bed in front. I am attaching some ideas below.
