I agree crisp white and a change of handles would look great. Also a industrial grey would look amazing, especically with the exposed hardware. Obviously this all depends on the rest of your kitchen but you could be more extreme and apply something cheap like chipboard to the back and apply some fun wallpaper to make more of a feature of all the items that you will have on display.

Do you require two doors into the kitchen/living space? If possible I would look at the options of removing the door on the right and moving the other door to left to line up with the front door in the hallway. It looks like you could pottentially gain a fair amoutn of space if this is possible.

At the risk of being controversial, I wouldn't put very much faith, at ALL, in anything you see on Garden Rescue. Some of what they do is atrocious and will quickly fall apart. On a more constructive note, nobody ever seems to consider including a sink. If you have one it could be very useful fro food preparation as well a little bit of washing up, washing hands etc. I am going to find a stone sink for my garden. I will have it attached to a mains feed but one could have a sink on tank feed with an on demand pump supplying it.
