Bathroom floor tile help!
Redoing our guest bath and I'm needing advice for floor tile! on 2 counts. 1. COLOR . 2. TILE SHAPE
Floor area is 8x5 without shower. We ordered a 60" wood vanity with white counter(similar to color in pictures). Shower tile will be white subway. Planning to do chrome plumbing. I thought I wanted a charcoal looking floor but I cant decide if should stick with that inital thought. Ive got three kids- grout staining/cleaning is my fear with light so figured I'd go dark. But will it make my room look smaller? ALSO, I love hexagon but am fearful I won't later.... would a 12x24 be better? What other directions to lay bigger tiles would be visually interesting than typical brick?
Picture below of similar wood vanity color with some floor samples. The ugly beige on top is what we have now. These Hexagons are bigger. like 8-9".

Comments (5)In my opinion it's all about: undertones, natural or artificial light, overall tone and other materials. Undertones - you need to clarify what the undertone is of the tile (that means is it biased towards a cool possibly blue colour or a warmer colour). Look at a paint chart, perhaps F&B next to the tile in good light. Try to match the tile with the correct colour, for example Strong White has a blue undertone, Skimming Stone has a violet undertone. If you do this it should work. Light - once you have identified the undertone you could paint the wall in a dark or light version of that colour. Consider natural light and artificial, and also consider the temperature of the LEDs. I only use very warm which is I think 2700 kelvins - it makes a huge difference. Overall tone. Some rooms look insipid because everything is too tonally similar. Rooms that are all tiles the same with pale walls can look like this. Adding a darker tone (it could be wood, or a wall tiled darker or accessories) will improve this. Materials, try to place samples of everything together to get it right. Wood or wood effect will add warmth, if you have a room with no wood, will it be cold? 4 years agoLove kazzh’s first picture and Sarah L’s marble. Love hexagonal anything to be honest! I have slate grey floor tiles in my kitchen (not hexagonal) and they do show every crumb, but easy enough to hoover up. In your choices I like the mid grey on the left, perhaps with slightly darker grout. Two examples below one with light grout and one with darker.

These are mine, though laid in herringbone pattern. I used grey grout, easy to clean also look good with white subway tiles.

3 years agoWe went with a similar concrete grey 60x60 tile with grey grout, surprisingly easy to clean.
