Bathroom floor tile help!
Redoing our guest bath and I'm needing advice for floor tile! on 2 counts. 1. COLOR . 2. TILE SHAPE
Floor area is 8x5 without shower. We ordered a 60" wood vanity with white counter(similar to color in pictures). Shower tile will be white subway. Planning to do chrome plumbing. I thought I wanted a charcoal looking floor but I cant decide if should stick with that inital thought. Ive got three kids- grout staining/cleaning is my fear with light so figured I'd go dark. But will it make my room look smaller? ALSO, I love hexagon but am fearful I won't later.... would a 12x24 be better? What other directions to lay bigger tiles would be visually interesting than typical brick?
Picture below of similar wood vanity color with some floor samples. The ugly beige on top is what we have now. These Hexagons are bigger. like 8-9".

Comments (8)You're welcome! This is an exciting project and I really hope you'll share the results, whatever you decide to do! I think metro tiles are the right way to go. You've already got pattern and bold colour covered so something more simple is probably right for the walls. Besides, it's a classic design. You could do it with a dark grout if you wanted to make a bolder statement. [This Houzz story[(https://www.houzz.co.uk/magazine/decorating-10-different-ways-to-use-classic-metro-tiles-stsetivw-vs~25104664) about metro tiles shows them mostly with dark grout and might help you visualise it. Marble would definitely work and look incredible. Just be careful to bear in mind the structure of the unit and how much weight it can hold. You have to consider the weight of the surface material, the sink, and the water it would have in it when full. Maybe even think about what you're going to fill the cupboards with and how heavy that could be. Perhaps it would be worth reinforcing the vanity in some way. Other than marble you could use tiles or just varnish the surface really well. All of these options will look great in different ways. Comments (30)Hi, if you did that, the box would be a very prominent feature and unless the box was the same width as the window sill you would have one surface slightly wider than the other which would look unbalanced so ideally I would leave around 100mm - 150mm between the two surfaces as in the photo. That said, it does depend on the height of the window sill from the floor. These details can be difficult to call which is why we use software and get a 3D visualisation. In answer to your second question, yes you could use chrome or satin nickel finish strip or a glass pencil tile to finishes the top of a tile very nicely and avoid that awkward edge created with a ceramic tile. You could use the strip on its own or with a mosaic of some sort - the pink and grey scheme was an Art Deco style set we did for a bathroom showroom. Comments (3)On top of the skirting? No way! I think that would look awful. Far too bulky in a sleek designed room. We have an ensuite which has the wall tiles sitting on top of the floor tiles to give the impression of more of a wet room effect. We also have a main bathroom and in here have the floor tiles cut to the size of the skirting that was originally in there height wise and then placed on top of the floor tiles So one room has nothing and the other room has the floor tiles up the wall as a skirting....See MoreMarie

last yearLove kazzh’s first picture and Sarah L’s marble. Love hexagonal anything to be honest! I have slate grey floor tiles in my kitchen (not hexagonal) and they do show every crumb, but easy enough to hoover up. In your choices I like the mid grey on the left, perhaps with slightly darker grout. Two examples below one with light grout and one with darker.

last yearWe went with a similar concrete grey 60x60 tile with grey grout, surprisingly easy to clean.
