Comments (6)Every family has their own amount of storage requirements - some small some huge - so very much depends on where you fit in beteeen ! Without the extension - if you put the dining in the playroom it would work ? If you only need the dining table occasionally - maybe have a clever table - either pulled up into ceiling when not required then clipped to floor to keep it from moving when in use - or a fold down table - or smaller extendable table etc etc but remember you will need storage for the toys - and a store cupboard for gold up chairs too ! ( this could - in theory - be the same cupboard !)...See Morehelp - where to put wine rack(s)?
Comments (30)Thanks minie, yeah I’m pleased with this one too - the app didn’t have an option for a tall unit with just a single oven, so I had to make do with what they had, but yes, we would just have a single oven in one and the other would have a combo micro/oven and warming drawer so it would all line up. And I just shoved a few things on the shelves without really thinking, but yes the open shelving would look neater than that! I’m also considering whether to have the breakfast bar and the units on the opposite island of the hob to be higher units so it is about 18cm higher than the hob. That way could potentially have the breakfast bar directly opposite the hob, although the higher units would have to be 300 deep which means people sitting even nearer the hob, albeit higher up - I’m not sure if the hob would still pose a risk in this case with fat splashes etc?...See Moreremove supporting beam
Comments (2)You need the structural engineer. He will let you know what can be removed and what needs to be put in place. He will then supply you with the relevant drawings for you to submit to building control for authorisation. The builder will then work off the drawings and you would need to get Building control to sign off the work at the relevant stages....See Morekitchen extension pillar pain!
Comments (6)We work around things like this often when we design spaces like this with clients ... there’s a few ways to embrace or disguise dependent on the overall design. Just be mindful to not make it so inviable people walk into it ! But whatever you do - try to get the sink a bit closer to the hob ! That’s one heck of a walk with a big pan of spuds to drain !...See MoreWalk Interior Architecture & Design
