can you tell me what sofa this is? it looks like it might be modular?

Yes you can do that with modular sofas. This sectional was purchased by my clients directly many years ago - I believe it was from Room and Board.

We bought a 1930's house recently in west London. There were a number of styles prevalent during this time usually falling into 1 of 3 categories - art deco (the one everyone knows about), mock-tudorbeathen which as the name suggests has tudor beams, oak iron studded front doors and often oversized fireplaces too. Finally there were the modernist homes with a focus on modern materials (think lino, curved glass crittal windows and tubular steel frame chairs etc. For me however its some of the smaller architectural details that I love in 1930's houses - lead light windows (sometimes with stained glass), picture rails in every room, 1 over 3 panel doors with high bakelite or brass knob handles and best of all original herringbone parquet floors! These are the things I've chosen to focus on in our house without going all out 1930's! Also as ASVInteriors mentioned there is also an element of arts and crafts to some of the 1930's homes which can often be seen in pretty entranceway doors/windows, quality inset kitchen cabinet doors/drawers, panelled cupboards and sometimes board and batten type hallways. I found the original brochure with illustrations for the homes built local to us from when they were first constructed which gives a great idea of what the interiors would have been like originally. Maybe go back to where you found this pic ( unless it was Pinterest - as unfortunately everything gets re-pinned on there so many times you can't trace it back ) - see if it has any info on it with regards what's in the photo...........magazine articles usually say where the products have been sourced. For your info, those types of rugs are called Trellis Rugs..................I did a search on google for beige trellis rug, but that one with the little navy bits on it, didn't come up.

Do you know what wood the parquet is made from? If I was you I would move my sofa and sand back a bit of the floor that will be covered by furniture. Then I would be able to see the kind of colour I'm trying to work with. I would say if both floors are going to be a mid to light colour it would be best to get as close a match as possible colour wise. I have two slightly different oak floors at home and it does look a little weird where they join (but then they are different plank sizes too). It just depends how particular you are. Did you know you can get bamboo parquet? If you are not too precious about the old parquet floor I would suggest that after sanding back you stain it in a colour to match with your new bamboo floor, then even if the two floors are a different design the difference won't be glaringly obvious.

Hi Sunny, I'm guessing the layout is like this then? Which is why you wanted a 900mm wide shower. I'd actually go with the 900 x 1200 as it's longer and will suit the room better, plus, if the layout is like this, then you have the room for it. Here's a link to all those in that size from Victorian Plumbing, so depends what your style is. Victorian Plumbing. They sell loads, so i'm sure you'll be able to find one that will suit. One thing to watch out for is the size of the basin and toilet. You will be better off with a short projection toilet and don't come out too far with the basin either as the space to exit out of the bath will be lessened. Regards to flooring, tiles etc, that's personal choice. What style do you like, what colours do you like, and most importantly what is your budget for the project?
