Need advice for carpet colour on my stairs please - 1930s traditional
Comments (43)hi all, update is I have finally found a photo of someones stairs done in Brintons timorous beastie yellow Ruskin butterfly and its made me decide we are definitely 100% going for this as I love it (see attached pics) on stairs and landing... Floor in hall will be oak herringbone parquet, just wall colour to decide and we have bought new tall skirting so colour to paint this also? i have attcahed apic of the hall currently so you can see our front door with stain glass.. As Ive mentioned before the banister and spindles will be replaces with square spindles with an oak top banister and oak end cap - similar to this houzz pic ... So just to deicide on wall colour and new skirting colour... I really like f&b light blue in a hall with oak parquet but I don't feel this will go with the carpet... Kitchen and dining room will be one of the sage shades and lounge Wimborne white and downpipe......See MoreCurtain colour advice please
Comments (28)Your room looks lovely and the wallpaper is soft and pretty, perfect for a bedroom. If the company the paper is from do fabric in the same print that would look great for the windows and would make the scheme cohesive. It wouldn’t be too much as you have only papered one wall. I wouldn’t have short curtains though but roman blinds with thick interlining to make them look luxurious and provide insulation. I wouldn’t use navy at all, I think the green in the paper is a lovely soft colour and would be better for cushions etc. If you can’t get the matching fabric then use that green or the pale blue for the windows. As long as you stick to the shades in the paper it will all come together....See MoreHelp with worktop colour and general colour advice please.
Comments (6)My kitchen is painted a duck egg blue too. I have cream units, oak worktops and a white ceramic sink. I agree with colourhappy to get the kitchen fitted, fit the worktop and sink then look at painting the walls, although your wall colour is soft and will probably go well. I’d go for a white worktop, with veining if you want some pattern, then go for a white sink. Black just wouldn’t go with the soft colours and they never look clean, especially if you have hard water. Although I love my duck egg walls I’m going to paint them F&B Oval Room Blue, which is a darker version. Just fancy a change! This is a corner of my kitchen....See MoreAdvice on colour schemes for our new kitchen please
Comments (8)I have dove grey handleless doors in my kitchen but have the same colour all round and on the island too. I painted the walls in Wevet which is almost a white but with a mere hint of grey. You can only really tell the grey tone when it’s against the white ceiling join. On the wall at the far end where the dining table is I have wallpaper to add a bit of interest. Perhaps these are options for you?...See MoreStephanie McDonald
