Hi Brad, Thank you for your inquiry. This pool house build was completed in 2018/19, and the client hired their own contractor to build the pool house, so I don't have the builders name. I believe it was a kit, and was not custom designed.

I am with the other comments here. Expensive fitments can look naff if poorly installed. Inexpensive fitments can look a million dollars if well fitted. Why not try your skills by partitioning part of a bedroom, hanging doors and making a wardrobe. I imagine this will take you 3 weekends to do. Then you should envisage how much work is required in the bathroom and if you can have your bathroom in a poor state for that long. I get that everyone has a budget but perhaps you shouldn’t start this project until you have the money to do it. Perhaps money can be saved elsewhere. Lastly I don’t mean to sound unkind but being able to put up a few tiles is not the same job as tiling the whole bathroom and it may be beyond your skill set. A tile cutter won’t cut real stone so you will need a wet saw which should not be used by the inexperienced.

Thank you so much for all your comments, really kind of you. Read Interiors will take your advice and get a wall mounted headboard, will start calling upholsterers tomorrow to get prices. Daisy, yes I do have a vax from the last house and the newer models are much better than the previous ones in terms of drying times. Vicki thanks for the name of the stretch valance as I couldn't find them on Google apart from on House of Fraser but they have limited colours and were pretty pricey at £100 or so! Angm, funnily enough I had this conversation with the carpet man as when I lifted the 50 year old carpet I noticed there was paper down and he explained that was why. He said it was also a good idea to tape any joins in underlay as well as the carpet but said a lot of fitters don't do this. Forzaitalia and Sam appreciate the insights and very interesting given your experiences Corbridge Interior design interesting point re rug and sizing I am still torn!!!! But I am probably moving towards carpets. I think the pics make the floor look better than it is! Noise wouldn't be a problem as we are in a bungalow, which is why I am concerned about the kids walking into their rooms on carpet having forgotten to take their shoes off! If it was upstairs I would definitely go with carpet! Aargh decisions, decisions!

Oh man, I decided to brave Ikea on a Saturday and sad to say that Martin was quite uncomfortable! I mean, the seat itself was fine and nothing a nice seat cushion couldn't fix, but the back rest felt like its designed so that you'll have to sit perfectly upright to be remotely comfortable in it. I suppose its good for posture if nothing else, but not something one wants for a dining chair! The Svenbertil was a lot more comfy for about the same size, though a bit more expensive. I was thinking of perhaps a couple of smaller side tables instead of an actual coffee table. Not sure yet. I think I'll have to wait until the sofa gets delivered and I have it in the space before I can really decide. Generally not a fan of glass table surfaces as I can get a bit obsessed over fingerprints and glass just attracts them! I really liked this coffee table when I saw it in the showroom, then I saw the price tag. Yeah, visually on the plan I don't think the long table would work that well in terms of the flow of the space, and I think I'm going to stick with a round one. Surprisingly, the space seemed to be able to fit a D100+/- 5cm relatively well after I folded some towels and tape out the area. The Ikea one you pointed out seems ideal in terms of size, but being all white, seemed a tad boring... though I suppose I could have different chairs to mix it up a bit... a pair in white and a pair in oak. Hmm...

Having suggesting taking down the wall around your living room door, I’ve just noticed your lovely wood flooring which woudl get messed up by that - unless you can get spare planks? If you don’t want to mess with the floor then you could consider inserting an internal window next to the door, where you currently have the square white mirror and cabinet. You could also replace the sitting room door with a glazed door. Another couple of ideas to help make your living room feel more spacious - without making the actual room bigger: 1) I wonder if there is storage taking up space in your living room? For example the cabinets each side of the TV? If so then if you re jig the loo into a small loo and a small storage room, you can move some storage there and free up sitting room space. 2). I notice you have a big dining table in the sitting room - is this used much, seeing as the kitchen is big enough for a table? If not, then removing it or replacing with a small extending table would free up space.
