Pendant lighting over dining table

I love the eclectic-but-similar pendant arrangements, but wondering if you can have TOO many?

My new dining space is the first thing you see from the front door entrance, which is open to the kitchen/dining/living space. It will have a long table with banquette seating against a 3m wall.

I would love a linear multi-drop arrangement of mixed glass pendants along the length of the dining table. 5, 7 or 9, similar to the photo, either on a ceiling plate or individual flex.

It’s a flat roof extension so I don’t have any ceiling height (2.3m), so I’m not sure I will get the “look” I’m after without it looking too busy.

Any thoughts much appreciated, thank you!

I think this arrangement looks great and provided you don’t extend beyond the table it will be lovely. The height can be adjusted to suit the ceiling height you have.

It is busy and will involve a lot of dusting, but it’s very pretty. The different coloured shades are lovely.

If I'm right, what is on the table are the lights you've chosen. I's use the old garden adage of 3 or 5 - in this case going for 3. The fourth could be placed in a hallway or other nearby room to flow well and tie things in together. I'd also suggest putting all your chairs around the table permanently, thus freeing up room space from where they are now. If these aren't you chosen lights I'd suggest Amber shades to match well with your furniture. Good luck. Bee

Hi we would consider the table size as this is the object you are lighting and framing and not the clock when setting out, we would recommend diving the pendant positions based on the centre of the light and the edge of the table: half equal, equal, half equal. I agree with the other comment that 3 would look better but if you would prefer 2, stick to these dimensions, so the first pendant would be positioned 60cm from the edge then 120cm to the next pendant then 60cm to the table edge. Daisy - we could do, all the same height? Wumi - the table isn’t fixed, it might move but not far. i dodny know track pendants existed so will definitely have a look. I’ve spotted the ’rise and fall’ fixtures. I thought that might work - one over each and then we could lower when eating at the dining table?

If your ceiling height is 2.3m and you don’t want the lights to dominate the sight line, you could have this type of light but go for more lightly coloured or clear shades?
