Which orientation should I put up these pictures?

I haven't recently bought 3 pictures but not sure which one should be on the left, middle or right.

Any help would be appreciated.

The zebra in the middle would balance out the more contemporary other ones. I would just lay them out on the floor and play around with it. You may prefer a triangle layout or an inverse triangle. Just move them around until you find a layout that you like then transfer it to the wall. I have no idea how large they are from your pics but i would not have too much space between them. They do not have to be a line. You could also stagger them. Ikea have great picture shelves too, in black so you could have them in a line on a shelf and switch them around as you fancy.

Your photographs are lovely and very high quality. I would advise you to pick one favourite image in portrait format and have it made into a wall-mural. There are several companies that will use your own image to create a bespoke wallpaper, including Photowall and wallpaperink. Whichever firm you choose can make a bespoke, image that with fit the wall perfectly.

I would leave it as it is now: up to but not including the picture rail. It highlights the picture rail and cornice when they are left in white and contrast with the wall colours. If you paint them it will just all blend in to one colour and you will loose the classical aspect which is quite important for a Gentlemen club look. I would however paint that wall that doesn't have a picture rail all the way up to the cornice as it would look odd otherwise. Hope that helps! Anthony

Hi Kit Kat. Personally I think the stark black and white everywhere must be horrible to live with, very visually disturbing. It must be a very old traditional cottage so I can see why your husband might insist on keeping it as is. Use the Houzz image search or Pinterest to search for limed oak cottage interiors and build up a gallery of images that could illustrate to him how much softer it would look without all that black! Removing the black would give the most authentic finish but might be a total nightmare to do, often people have to have them blasted in situ (expensive and very messy!). If he still won’t listen then it may seem odd but painting the walls a darker tone (closer to black) would help with the jarring contrast! I like your ideas four poster etc but I think that room is too small for anything like that. You could find some richly patterned fabric for the curtains and hang some as a headboard. Best of luck with changing your husbands mind, you are right though, stick to your guns!
