Should I have a light over dining table? Hello Houzzers, Can you advise please? Our kitchen extension is nearing the end of our building work phase and I need to decide on final lighting positions. It is a very big space so we are having an island with obligatory 3 pendant lights over. We will also have a dining table in the garden room end of the build. The electrician has left wires for a pendant light to go over the table but needs the final position before ceiling is plastered. Now I'm thinking that having a light will limit where we can put the table, eg if we want to move it in the future and also, (as I've not even thought about table size or bought one yet) its difficult at the moment to give a definitive position for the light. The kitchen is about 3weeks away from being fitted. So should I ditch the idea of a light over dining table?? Thanks in advance for your help!

I think you need to post a plan, so that maybe some of the kitchen planners can have a go. If you purchase base units to use as shelves, some with doors and drawers, you need to find a kitchen manufacturer that offers colour co-ordinated carcasses so that everything matches. ( Inside the cupboards and out so that you can have cupboards with no doors just shelves ) Such as DIY Kichens amongst others DIY Kitchens I'd start there, to see what colour carcasses you can get, then get the kitchen planner on the job.

The room looks very modern and spacious and having 2 colours in a kitchen is very popular. With regards to wall units (see image below where shelves have been used) & fridge/freezers, it really is down to personal preference but American fridge/freezers are very bulky, but they do give a lot of fridge space, although the freezers do tend to be a little small. Shelving can look nice and it could keep costs down. Decisions, decisions :-) Here are some pics of shaker kitchens that our customers have sent us with 2 different colours that they have used in their kitchens. I like the wood colourhappy posted for a non-shaker kitchen. FOr a shaker one, actually not too dissimilar to the image you posted, farrow and ball oval room blue with wood accents to warm it up
