Need help to chose exterior paint colour
Comments (8)If you don't have access to photoshop then I would print off some images onto easily paintable paper. Then colour by hand with the nearest colours to get an overall picture. So much cheaper and easier than painting the house then feeling unhappy. Having pinpointed the kind of colour then I would buy sample pots and actually paint a small section of the outside perhaps a metre x metre or yard x yard square of each colour....See MoreI need help with Window designs and an exterior colour scheme
Comments (28)I really think you should consider timber. All WWA members have their windows tested against air and water leakage, so there won't be any problems there. They come factory-finished in any RAL colour and can be repainted (outside or inside) whenever you want. And the frames will last twice as long as plastic. I would replicate its original windows, which are beautiful. It's a handsome house - keep its value by keeping its authentic character....See MoreBasement bedroom decor help urgently needed please!
Comments (6)Hi. I think any dark, rich colour could work well (would paint the skirts in the wall colour) but if you didn't want to paint the furniture either a really deep teal or inky blue would work well. Perhaps use ochre or burnt orange as accent colours or moss or emerald/grass green work really well with an inky blue. I assume the ceilings aren't tanked so you'll need a ceiling fix pole? Having floor to ceiling curtains will make it feel taller. I'd also have a tall portrait leaner mirror on the wall opposite the window to make it feel taller and to bounce light (do you know where the stud work is for attaching things to walls?) Could you have a light weight canvas hung on the chimney breast attached with those sticky pads? Agree re lighting and would also add 1/2 floor lamps. Is an electric stove in budget for the chimney? My only reservation is dark walls against a white ceiling. I think my basement is the same height and I deliberated for ages and in the end painted it all white :) there is an argument that dark ceilings can create depth as you can't see where they end.. also an argument re white gloss or Matt finish for the ceilings! If you did go for dark walls though i might consider a mid shade for the ceiling...See MorePaint colours to compliement new kitchen - urgent help to get it right
Comments (7)You will need a few tester pots to get it right. If you paint it a blue grey it may look chilly, especially with cool LEDs. My kitchen floor is similar to yours and North facing. I tried lots of different greys but ended up with Skimming stone as it has a tinge of warmth but a definite violet undertone. I went well with the deep olive I also chose. Pavilion grey and Cornforth white have a cool blue undertone but they may look cold - best to try a few out in both natural and artificial light. This shows skimming stone (and olive green) and my floor tiles look very similar to yours. to yours....See Moremodernistlover
