Kid's bathroom floor tile

Kid's bathroom revamp. We'll have standard white gloss subway tiles on the shower walls. Floor space is super tiny (5.5x3") with one large north facing window (attached pic).

I like white hex on the floor:

My concerns. 1) too many small tiles for a tiny space? 2) Too much grout and staining?
Other flooring ideas w/ white subway tile?

I like the photo you gave as an example. He smaller 1x1 tiles on the floor are a good idea, it will make the space look larger with the contrast of the larger white subway tile. The stripes in the shower curtain are good too pushing the eye out creating width.

Kids are messy so having appropriate storage for all their goodies is important, keeping the room organized will make it feel bigger.

You're welcome! This is an exciting project and I really hope you'll share the results, whatever you decide to do! I think metro tiles are the right way to go. You've already got pattern and bold colour covered so something more simple is probably right for the walls. Besides, it's a classic design. You could do it with a dark grout if you wanted to make a bolder statement. [This Houzz story[(https://www.houzz.co.uk/magazine/decorating-10-different-ways-to-use-classic-metro-tiles-stsetivw-vs~25104664) about metro tiles shows them mostly with dark grout and might help you visualise it. Marble would definitely work and look incredible. Just be careful to bear in mind the structure of the unit and how much weight it can hold. You have to consider the weight of the surface material, the sink, and the water it would have in it when full. Maybe even think about what you're going to fill the cupboards with and how heavy that could be. Perhaps it would be worth reinforcing the vanity in some way. Other than marble you could use tiles or just varnish the surface really well. All of these options will look great in different ways. Even though you're not DIY-ing it, take a look at this "how-to" to give you a better idea of the process. Bathroom floors - porcelain floor tiles or vinyl floor tiles?

Porcelain is a tough tile which will not crack or break easily. they are very long lasting. vinyl is out dated and just doesn't look good. Your other option should be ceramic tiles. So it should be between ceramic and porcelain. I'd still recommend porcelain but ceramic is cheaper, that's the biggest advantage of ceramic. I bought these porcelain tiles two weeks ago, they look lovely. beautiful hexagon porcelain tiles

tiled skirting in a bathroom - using wall or floor tiles?

On top of the skirting? No way! I think that would look awful. Far too bulky in a sleek designed room. We have an ensuite which has the wall tiles sitting on top of the floor tiles to give the impression of more of a wet room effect. We also have a main bathroom and in here have the floor tiles cut to the size of the skirting that was originally in there height wise and then placed on top of the floor tiles So one room has nothing and the other room has the floor tiles up the wall as a skirting.

I remember a friend once saying black tiles showed the dirt very easily and needed cleaning more often. All the images of the dark tiles show them used with a light coloured grout which would be needed to show the shape of the tile. I would go for a hexagonal shaped tile if that is what you like. Everything dates eventually. I think a brick tile pattern is now a bit dated. I think either of the lighter shades would look great
