From where do you buy your paint?
Comments (54)Mylands. You always regret your economies. I've repainted this kitchen 4X over the years, and last time was in Dulux which wore so poorly. Just custom mixed a new vibrant duck egg to paint my kitchen in marble matt walls, eggshell woodwork, and floor paint. Mylands matched impeccably. It was a dream of coverage, and looks spectacular. The quality of the pigment shows, looks the money, nothing like synthetic mediocre pigments in cheaper paint. It's a big improvement....See Moreeast facing lounge and hall
Comments (31)Ball Green is a lighter olive maybe try that, or just go with the savage ground walls and add colour with accessories. Or there's always wallpaper for the chimney breast. I had a very similar to F&B Olive in my east facing living room (Crown Fashion for walls Bespoke) I loved it but come the afternoon it could feel dark. However you're only planning to have it on the chimney breast rather the entire wall as I did, so it could well be fine and you could add a mirror to break it up. Does it have to be F&B colours? Dulux Timeless Classics have a chalky finish and Sophisticated Sage is lovely - more of a soft olive than a sage if you ask me :) and there are some lovely warm neutrals in that range too. You could always download the Dulux visualiser app to give you an idea....See MoreGiveaway: Ideal Home Show tickets and design consultations!

Comments (14)Hi Emma. For a long narrow room (relatively speaking as it isn't narrow!), you could paint the 2 short walls the dark colour as this will "correct" the room's proportions rather than paint the long wall as it will accentuate the length. Alternatively you'd normally paint the fireplace wall to highlight the feature. I think as you've got doors it should break it up a bit but I'd do the doors in the same colour. I would probably go for something a bit richer than pitch blue, like Hague blue. I know whose room that is you've pictured in the 2nd pic so will try and find the colour but am sure it was a valspar paint! You could also try downpipe which works well in a north facing room. I'd probably put these with warm whites/neutrals rather than grey. Elephants breath can work really well in a north facing room but can also just look grey and agree with littlesongs comments! You could also go dark on all walls and layer the lighting, add mirrors etc. Or if you decide light then people can make colour suggestions for that :)...See MoreUser
