Traditional design techniques and language relate the contemporary extension to the Georgian manor. The extension will be detailed in a contemporary manor, whilst the materiality will be of local origin and reference the surrounding area; we plan to use a natural palette of stone, timber and glass to achieve this. Contemporary glass linking elements help delineate the new building from the existing by creating a visual break between them, as well as introducing light into the interim space and highlighting the existing ashlar stone walls creating an internal feature. The extension accommodation includes an open plan family room, pool, gym and two bedrooms. The new outbuildings are to replace the old and consist of a car and helicopter garage, guest apartment and stables.
