Briary Wood Lane is a new development of 3 spacious, high quality homes located near Welwyn, Hertfordshire. Our structural engineers here at Design4Structures were responsible for the full structural design and detail of these large four-bedroom properties, including the external retaining wall and link bridges.

A large house had previously existed on the hill, and its demolition made the foundation design of the new properties more challenging. Our team needed to construct large, reinforced concrete retaining walls in order to retain the boundaries, which backed onto woodlands and existing homes.

Our client, Guardian Builders Ltd, requested for a modern, open plan living space. This interior design meant that the internal load-bearing structure needed to be as minimal as possible, adding to the complexity of the overall design.
