The basement of this large family terrace home was dimly lit and mostly unused. The client wanted to transform it into a sumptuous hideaway, where they could escape from family life and chores and watch films, play board games or just cosy up!

Studio Milne designed and installed a warm, cosy snug for family and friends to relax and chill out in. Embracing the natural moody light of this room, a feeling of opulence was created with a burgundy palette. With dark tones on the walls, a soft white tone to the ceiling and a deep, rich velvet sofa that almost begs you to sink into it and not move for the rest of the day. The uniformity of colours in the room creates a peacefulness to this rich, cosy snug.

To keep this family space clutter free, we hid all the leads and cables and created some low level bespoke cupboards either side of the chimney breast, so the room can be enjoyed without unnecessary mess to tidy away at the end of the day.

No snug would be complete without the pleasing comfort of underfloor heating and that’s exactly what the clients have under their seamless concrete floor which further heightens the contemporary look of the snug.

The end result is opulently cosy snug that the family love disappearing to either to entertain and hang out with friends or to chill out and connect as a family.
