SW11 - Mysore Road
This maisonette flat running over the top two floors and loft of this Victorian terrace was a blank canvass and complete labour of love. The property was run down and in a sorry state of disrepair. The brief was to turn it into a warm and inviting family home for a working mum and her young son. What’s more, colour, pattern, eclectic touches and vintage finds were to be positively encouraged!
The large open plan loft was made cosy and warm through rich colours, layers of lighting and carefully selected soft furnishings. With the requirement to store thousands of books we kept the vaulted ceiling and created bespoke wall to ceiling joinery to form the backdrop and heart of this open plan space.
The kitchen was a new extension on the first floor with exposed walls, sultry pink cabinets and terracotta flooring, whilst the master bedroom and ensuite were kept deliberately restrained to provide an oasis of calm.
The family bathroom brings a jolt of colour and pattern, whilst the hero has to be the riot of colour and pattern weaving through the hallway and threading the rooms together.
The result: a thoughtful, considered space that is as quirky and individual as the family who live there.
