“We decided to award Home Architecture the design contract for a large rear extension we had planned for our 1930s house. The designed drawing by Mike had some design options that at the time we had not considered. With this open advice and forward thinking vision we approved modification for the final drawing sign off. Its now some eight years since we had the extension done and still very much appreciated the input we had from the architects. The rear extension in brief consisted of a approx 6m x 4m single story extension, with tiled roof , velux windows and Bi-fold doors across the rear to open up onto hard wood decking. The project took c10 months and we made it more difficult for the architects and contractors by choosing to live in different corners of the house while work carried on around us. Mike Milton brought many innovative elements to the overall design and equal emphasis was placed on the practical considerations such as construction, plumbing, electrics and sourcing. The project incorporated constructional changes, renovations and improvements, two new extensions and a few demolitions. The project - having allowed for the constraints and problems encountered along the way (asbestos, rotten timbers, crumbling foundations ...) was very close to the original budget and timescale, and the interactions with the construction company exemplary. “Absolute Architecture was a joy to work with. Kate Cooper and her team worked with a tiny, decrepit home, large garden and stables from 1908 and turned the property into a show piece. “I came across Ark through a recommendation from a friend so I checked them out on here and found some good reports. I made contact with them and set up a meeting to discuss my project. From the moment I met the team I felt comfortable and re-assured that I had made the write choice. We sat down and talked through my ideas for the extension to my house and what I wanted to get out of it, from this meeting various ideas/layouts were sketched up and this provoked further ideas which led to a layout that was far better than I had originally anticipated in my head.
