Need help for starting extensions

I have quotes for over £3500 for architects drawings plus I need a structural engineer approx costing £1000. It all seems very expensive for rear extensions and a side double storey ext - do these figures sound about right. Ive been told the Full plans submission fee and full plans inspection fee will be £500-£1000. S0 over £5000 on my budget before Ive stated building! Can someone advise if these seem correct.
