Adding wood to kitchen - worktops or floor?

Hi,
I'm thinking of replacing the worktops or floor with wood / wood effect finishes to warm it a bit. Do you think I should go for the worktops, the floor or both (or neither?)

If it where me, I would go for an oak worktop, it would look lovely with the cabinets and wall colour and then maybe a light creamy colour tile/ tile effect all the way through instead of the two different floorings :)

I would say floor, solid wood would look great in your kitchen area

My kitchen is similar to the one in that picture and we've had oak worktops. Even though we also opted for a caramel bamboo flooring the room is still very bright as we've kept everything else neutral. It depends on the light and shape of your kitchen, but a dark worktop won't necessarily make the room gloomy.

Hello Anne, Honed would be my suggestion as I just love the finish. Get a sample or two and see what you think. With wood why not find a light whitish granite that has a wood colour grain.. That way the two compliment. You can further compliment with some wooden chopping boards and a marble piece or two... Cheese board and a pestle and mortar for example.. Both really useful pieces and lovely.. Anthropologie has the pestle and mortar and Habitat a cheese board although I use it for toast and anything that isn't acidic.. :))

Hi, your kitchen looks beautiful! came across threads as we too are currently debating diy kitchens cashmere or light grey, we have ordered cashmere and started to have doubts that it would be too dark. Though looking at yours I'm reassured again! I just wondered what wood worktop/and poss stain you have chosen? We looked at a solid wood oak but i thought it looked a bit yellowy.
