Help needed to decorate my small playroom/spare room (pretty please)
Comments (16)yes I like the jungle idea possibly, though not sure if should keep with ivy as it matches whats currently there.. , not sure about the shelves or seating by the TV though. In the room next door there is an an 8 seater table, and a kitchen island, so its not as though this is the only place to have seating I guess. I like the ideas of natural look, almost Japanese, bamboo, bringing the garden in, just having difficulty with which wall colours, what to do with the post? keep white or make a colourful feature of it, and also what colour sofa bed, rug, paint on the walls to make everything blend in. It's so difficult, can't go for a lightish sofa, as it would just get too dirty, but I'm open to all ideas and very very much appreciate both yours and Rukmini's I have no idea how to put a room pic together like that so it helps massively. They have a lot of friends round, so a comfy rug /beanbags are also great, as long as we can also put them somewhere away too, so they're not in the way...See MoreWhat colour roof tiles, windows and fascias?
Comments (7)After a delay, now in the middle of renovating the bungalow but I'm having second thoughts about the colour of the windows. Currently have slate grey tiles and white fascias. I was planning to go with white windows (although the fascias are RAL 9010 and the windows only available in RAL 9003, so slightly different whites!), but I really like painswick/agate grey RAL 7038 windows on other properties. I'd welcome any advice before making a decision! I'm also unsure about the render colour for the front of the house to go with RAL 9003 windows. The back of the house is brick....See MoreRecap-Conservatory-- solid/tile roof and Bifold doors
Comments (2)I'm sure of the conservatory roof but now confused about the window being converted into a door. I think I will give them a call Either way, do they still want us to seek written permission for any alterations? Excerpts from Calthorpe Estate Residents handbook Page 11 Freehold properties Under the Scheme of Management, Written consent is obtained from Calthorpe Estates before undertaking any alterations to their property, whether internal structural alterations, new extensions, or alterations to the external visual appearance. Excerpts from Calthorpe Estate Residents handbook Page 27 Extensions and alterations::: --all extensions and external alterations must be approved by the Scheme of Management. Generally, rear extensions are the least obtrusive with front extensions more visible and therefore needing greater care and design flair. In many cases, a front extension will simply be considered inappropriate. ----------------------- -Would the conversion of a conservatory window into a bifold door be considered an external alteration? or alterations to the external visual appearance. Comments (3)Hi Nicola, when thinking about the outside of your house it's always important to consider the style of your home (when is was built) and what others on your street have. There are some rules on what the local council will permit too, so best to check with them first. Whilst it's nice for everyones home to have a unique personality, i believe it looks best when colours and design are in keeping with the original character of the house and road. 1950's homes are typically mid century, so think simplicity and clean lines. White wood siding in white can be a nice way to bring character to the houses facade. Plain, small format roof tiles in clay or slate are ideal materials for this era. I think your front door is where you get to have the most fun. Perhaps consider a colour. 1950's colours could be quite playful. I'd love to work with you on your inteior when the time comes.
