Are print catalogues going out of fashion?

Print catalogues can be exciting to look through, but if the content is already online, do you bother to pick one up?

I'm interested to know if you think that catalogues are useful or not, so get opinionated below!

I'd be really disappointed if they stopped printing catalogues. It can be incredibly difficult and time consuming to browse online on most websites. I think it's great if you know what you are looking for (and can correctly guess how the particular company will describe said item, otherwise it won't appear in the search results) but if you just want to browse for inspiration a catalogue is so much easier and enjoyable.

I do love a beautiful catalogue but I feel that their time is almost over, I believe things will all start in the future to go solely online.

Here's an update on the work. I've finished the pebbledash first coat, and the painter did the fascias, soffits, door and window. The green I chose came out a lot darker than I thought, but never mind. What do you think? What's left to do is add some nice pots in front, put up the guttering (I'm going to do that now), another coat of the white masonry paint, and of course the most important part, put a cat image in the window!

Judith, this is, as I am sure you can imagine a very complex situation. I have also received the following from my photo syndication agency - Dear All, Following a complete U-Turn by the government on the repeal of Section 52 with a 5 year transition. There is a consultation open at present with a closing date of 23rd December 2015. This consultation could result in the change coming into effect on 28th April 2016 - giving all photographers and publications very little time to prepare. This will have a disastrous effect on all interior photographers, libraries and publications Each and every designer/estate of a 3D creative work (for Life+70 Years) would be able to claim copyright infringement for the inclusion of their artistic works/items within 2D images. Furniture, Pottery, Ceramics, Glass, Jewellery, Clothing, accessories, the list of effected items is endless. It is likely there will be a flurry of legal test cases and the government are providing very little guidance (relying on test cases to develop new boundaries). Our understanding is that in order for the replies to have impact it's important to document your position within the industry - length of time within it, type of clients, important designers you have worked with etc... We have been informed that collecting societies are already gearing up towards test cases to claim compensation for designers at the expense of photographers and their representatives as soon as the law is passed. As most contracts with publishers pass all the responsibilities back to the photographer, it is ultimately the photographers who are left in the firing line. You need to make a decision. Do you want the fabric to bring colour and pattern to your room or do you want to keep the whole room neutral? If you want pattern, the next decision is what style- check or plaid, stripe, floral or geometric? Then what colour(s). The room, as you point out, is not overly bright, but do you use this room much during the day or is it an evening room? You could opt for deep, rich colour that warms the room at night like burgundy, deep turquoise or terracotta. Adding patterned cushions with similar colours will splash colour around the room. Also, I'd replace the Roman blinds with matching fabric to the curtains, otherwise that will will lack colour. You could make a single curtain for each of those smaller windows in your main fabric and pull it to the side furthest from the fireplace, tied back. As to style, since you don't appear to be overlooked, floor length curtains on the front window and patio doors can be on a 50mm pole extending at least 150mm plus finials each of the windows. To stack them further back extend the pole more, but take care not to have wall showing just before the window recess. Tieing them back would allow more light to come in. How can I bring this living room to life?

We were going for the 3 seater + the chaise, so it'd be wide. Then the footstool as well so when it's just us two we can create 2 chaises for ultimate comfort. We considered a 3 seater + 2 seater but the room is awkwardly shaped / laid out for that. We wanted something large enough for multiple people to sit on if we have visitors. The 3 seater on its own with the footstool would make for smaller width as you'd lose the + chaise seat, know what I mean? Unless we did a 3 seater plus a chair. With the TV in one corner and the wood stove in the other, I can't figure out how to place two sofas without one of them being back / side on to something or blocking it.

As a minimalist, it's great to have everything to hand on an iPad mini. I have bid a fond farewell to stacks of magazines and catalogues - generally obstinately hiding the one item I need! No, I have fully embraced life on line and I wouldn't go back.

I would find it really difficult to browse online, I much prefer a catalogue - easier to flick through!
