Help with my lounge
Comments (17)Some fab ideas there that U hadn't thought of which is why I love you houzzers I was actually thinking like a grey blue paint but you've now given me food for thought as I can def see those colours going well so I won't have to change my sofa ! Trying to keep it classic with a modern twist , don't like to modern but equally don't like old stuff mmmm a lot of thinking to do GONNA need a rug to I think and maybe a couple of nice pieces of furniture and maybe a chandelier, won't be painting the brick tho coz it matches the house and I love it...See MoreHelp me with my Lounge
Comments (28)In my opinion the round chair takes a lot of space, but if you want to keep it you have to declutter the area even more. As said above, the photos on the feature wall are not necessary. If you remove them entirely I think it would look better. I also think that you don't need the side table there. You could either have the chair or the side table, but not both in that corner. The big coffee table takes a lot of space and closes the room. I would suggest removing both the big coffee table and the matching side table and having the little yellow/green round table as your coffee table. It goes lovely with the cushions and the sofa. You can put a slim modern floor standing lamp between the chair and the sofa if light is needed in this corner. You do have some great furniture pieces and features in these room. Keep it simple and airy! That will bring the style in....See MorePlease critique my lounge plans!
Comments (6)Thanks so much for your comments OnePlan. I love what you said about putting lights outside. I want to do the windows now just for that - could look so cosy! Thanks for the reassurance with the doors. I think we will go with this. Hmmm I'm not sure a barn door is quite what I want here. I'm not bothered about access to the kitchen from the lounge, it's more for light purposes, but it's a valid point about interruption to walkway, one that I had considered. I wonder if interior bifolds or something like that might work, although there would still be the view into the kitchen problem. it isn't important for tv in here - we do have another snug, so this would be more social/entertaining space. There will be a lot of light already from big windows on 3 walls. Would the skylights make it hotter in here? The lounge currently is where the kitchen will be and it is a very sunny room, which does get rather warm on a sunny day....See MoreMy lounge needs more natural light
Comments (20)You can add skylights to the sloped roof sections on each side without taking down the entire ceiling. You will need your builders to create a deep plasterboarded reveal (like a tapered tunnel) leading from each skylight to the ceiling. Like this This is likely to be a lot cheaper and easier than removing the entire ceiling - plus there are almost certainly structural roof supports running across above the ceiling that will be exposed if you remove the ceiling. I would also definitely get your husband to reconsider the outdoor covered structure if you can as it’s not helping! What does he love about it? Perhaps there is something less light obstructing it could be replaced with? An awning or a shade sail that comes down in the winter?...See MoreAnt
