Area calculation for 2" - 3" black river pebbles

Can you give me the formula for computing the area calculation for 2" to 3" black river pebbles? For example, how many square feet does a 20 lb bag cover?

- Each stone measures approximately 2" - 4" diameter and covers approximately 1.5 sq. ft. of surface.

Hi, the only thing I would say is put the fire on and see how hot it gets. We have a gas inserted fire, a little bit like yours but it really belts out the heat. We had an oak mirror on the wall above it and it got so hot we were really concerned that it would burn! We didn't want a full mantel piece so we bought an oak "shelf" to absorb the heat, then put the mirror above that. Now I am not worried about the mirror. I still have to switch the fire off after a couple of hours as the wood "shelf" gets really hot, but I am not worried that anything of value will get damaged. If the shelf gets a bit black (it hasn't so far) I won't mind. I definitely would not put a TV over a fire for all the above reasons. Hope that helps a little.

Being competely honest I don’t think this will work too well in real life. The gaps down the side of and behind the bath will be constantly damp and prone to mould unless you get down on your knees and dry those bits after every shower.. and I suspect quite a high risk of floor leaks too as it will have to be a wetroom floor but will have the added weight and movement of a large (sometimes full) bath on top... The gap between sink and boiler is going to feel very tight when you come in (although moving the wall will help a bit, but still think it won’t be ideal). And it will all feel quite crowded especially if you have crittal breaking it all up. In your shoes I would either 1) pay to move the boiler, then you can have it all, or 2) have a shower over bath, or 3) accept having a small shower or small bath so you can fit it all in. For example you could have a small shower cubicle next to the boiler, then loo between shower and bath and sink opposite loo - still a bit of a squeeze but much better. Or you could consider those baths which are short but deep for a good soak in a more seated position. If you got a corner one like the Orbit you could put the bath in back left corner, loo in back right and then you’d have space for a decent shower by the boiler.

Thanks for everyone's input. Went through more testers than I can remember and a 5L tin spilling all over my car. In the end we settled on grey steel 4 in the hallway. That was until we started painting blackened in the living room and decided we should have the same colour throughout :S Anyway we never found the answer to the grey conundrum and through searching it seems a lot of people have had the same issue. Grey Steel 4 and Blackened both appear more light blue than grey to my eyes. Some colours that people insisted were a true grey, were not once we tested. I guess light plays a huge part. Laura Ashley was the only brand I didn't try Nevertheless both colours are nice and blackened is really growing on me. The ammonite in the opening picture might have been fine on reflection, the contrast at the edges with the white paint made it look dark and greige, a perception that would change once the whole wall was done

What colour slabs/block paving have you got? When we lived in Brighton we had a rendered house with white windows. We painted it Pointing (Farrow and Ball) as we didn't like the cold white other houses had but didn't want it too yellowy like a lot of Masonry paint. It just took the edge off and looked a bit warmer. As your roof tiles are warm, I think the current colour looks a bit too warm and sickly with it, so calming it down would help.

I assume you meant that a 20lb bag covers approximately 1.5 sf of surface area, right?
