Hall pictures/ display advice needed please

My hall is painted in barley white by dulux as it is an old barn with lots of wood beam features in it. (Almost finished) the carpet is a flecked beige/ peanut colour. There is a big expanse of space that needs something on it. I love Photos but am hopeless at displaying them artistically. I also have some canvas photos of my childre. But I wondered about a warm floral canvas? But I assume itll need to be big or it will look lost? Or shelves with picture frames on them? I am really not sure what will work. Any ideas very welcome, thank.

As Patrina has suggested a gallery wall in that space would look fabulous. Get all the pictures and photos you want to use and lay them out on the floor somewhere having first measured the wall space and marked it out with sheets of paper (we used old wallpaper off cuts sellotaped together). Keep shuffling and rearranging until you like the look. Draw around the pictures and number/ mark them on the paper. Then measure where the wires/ hooks are and mark them. Pin the paper to the wall and tap through the paper with picture hook pins. Then you have your layout. Take paper down, put the picture hooks up where you have marked, hang pictures. Then post the awesome results on her to inspire others!

I love all the art you have chosen for this room....and the bit of yellow in them totally work. I was nervous about the size of a few, so grouping is a good idea. I think the largest one can work alone and the other two can maybe stack?

Without looking under the carpet its hard to say. That said its also the last job you should do in the house. You don't want tradesmen (or yourself) trucking muck onto a nice new runner whilst plastering/painting/sanding is still ongoing upstairs elsewhere. Any house built before 1940 is more likely to have nicer wooden treads. Often they are painted white just down the sides precisely because they would have had a runner previously. Newer homes can be hit or miss - worst case would be if they're ply or similar in which case you're pretty much restricted to just re-carpeting. Are you able to check the stair underside if you have a cupboard under the stairs? At least that'll confirm if they're solid wood. I stripped my stair carpet a while ago, taking it up is pretty easy - you just need a little patience. A flathead screwdriver is best for digging out staples whilst I found wedging a metal scraper between the gripper strip tacks and the floor, and then again using a flathead under the scraper to lever the strips up worked best (see pic). Give the stairs a good hoovering and wipe down, then use some wood filler (sometimes referred to as spackle) to fill in the holes left. Finally sand if needed (and if you want a perfect finish) and paint as desired - leave the middle as it won't be seen and so you can walk up and down when its drying. It took me an afternoon to remove the carpet, staples and gripper rods. Then another couple of hours to fill in the holes. I used Dulux Once Satinwood on the edges after priming which is very forgiving as it only needs one coat and levels itself so you don't get brushstrokes. Lol, bud, it originally a started out as a comment from my wife about something to which I refused to get my hair cut again! Finally had enough about 4 weeks back and cut it all off! Hadn’t cut in in 20 months! Not getting any younger either so I thought better loose it before I start looking like a hobo and people start throwing money at me! :-) what about the new home btw?

There is quite a lot going on with all of the angles, so maybe one large item may work? A long thin kilim rug would be really nice.

The large wall is easy as a gallery display, the landing one a bit more tricky, the main area there looks to be inside a triangle of beams possibly (can’t see from the whole pic) if it is possibly a pyramid display without a picture at the top, near like a triangle with the top cut off.
