Bedroom Window treatment
Comments (8)If you want a light excluding Roman blind, you will need to hang it on the wall rather than in the window recess, with a few inches extra width and length otherwise the light will show through at the edges. A patterned fabric would give the opportunity to choose wall colour, bed accessories, maybe a chair cushion etc in colours unified by the blind. Art or photos on the walls would soften the room making it look more personal....See MoreI need some things to complete our bedroom!
Comments (41)I would put the pair of glass candle lamps together on the right side chest and opt for sidelamps with more oomph - something bigger and squat. You could also add other ornaments in different heights grouped together - don't split matching items too symmetrically, balance is key but symmetry may be boring. A geometrically patterned rug or two will look nice alonside the bed and/or at the foot of it. A narrow console unit would look nice beneath the tv; you could go for vintage as your style is very simple. Don't be afraid to dare a little - playing safe is not always the safest!!! Add a comfy reading chair with lampstand and cushions and a footwarmer or plaid on the bed and some more wall art - the heart is a great start but add more. Think layers. You have a great basic palate to funk it up a lot!...See MoreHow to Modernise a bedroom
Comments (34)I posted a comment but it seems to have disappeared so apologies if it now appears twice! Painting some of the furniture would be a great idea however it's a mammoth task so for the moment, I would just concentrate on accessories. I's a nice sized room - do you know what direction it's facing? I'm wondering also whether it's abroad rather than in the UK as it's unusual to have such dark furniture, very high ceilings and a shiny tiled floor - plus you've added an air conditioning unit over the window? Or is my amateur detective work sending me barking up the wrong tree! Anyway, I also agree with a previous comment that a modern colonial style would be lovely. To avoid making costly mistakes, get some colourful offcuts of material or some colourful clothes that you may already have in your wardrobe. Lay them individually ion the bed at different times of the day, take photos and see which ones work best for you. Likewise buy different coloured flowers, pop them on your bedside table and again see which work best. Once you've decided on your favourite colour, you can then buy your accessories. Get a couple of lamps, a colourful throw for the bed and definitely a rug to warm up the shiny but rather cold floor. Splash out on some greenery to add some warmth and maybe a large potted plant to break up the wall. Mirrors would also work well. Personally I would have painted the walls a warm white rather than grey but the right accessories and pictures will soon brighten it up. Also, is the room overlooked as I'm wondering about the net curtains - if you get rid of them, you'll be amazed how much light will come flooding in. If you have a balcony outside, you could get some fab plants which will add shade, privacy and colour to the room. Good luck and have fun!...See MoreHelp with Bedroom Design
Comments (17)Hi! just getting back to this after the Christmas break! thanks for all the replies! I am very happy with how it’s turning out. painting the radiator the wall colour seems fairly popular lately. I’ve painted all mine white but could go back and repaint them. I think I’ve got some of the wall paint left. :) I took some of the advice and hung a large piece of art over the bed with a white frame. I’ve moved the plant to the other side of the drawers. It does look better there! I’ve added a new plant which wasn’t as tall as the old one so I put it on the old bedside table. I think it works well. went with your suggestion of the wicker baskets. :) I Just need to fill the opposite wall now. I like the suggestion of a gallery wall but I don’t want to over do it With too much art. Maybe black and white photography could be nice? That gold eagle is very cool! hanging some photos on the mirror is a great idea thanks! I will have to try find some nice hanging plant pots too. Then I think I just need some cushions on the bench? And maybe a few more things on the bedside table and I’m done! Possibly some new blinds or curtains but that can wait! Phew!...See Moreartisan_1
