Help needed choosing a colour to compliment a cashmere kitchen
Hi
Any suggestions/ advice on decor colours to complement our Wren Cashmere kitchen And quartz worktops. I love the colour of the kitchen which is a warm grey with a lilac hue in certain lights. Currently we have the walls painted
a F&B cream colour (not sure exact shade!) but I’m wondering if we need more colour in the walls... afraid it looks a bit bland! In an attempt to lift things a little my husband painted the end wall teal but I’m still thinking the room is missing something!

3 years agoIt looks lovely. If it was mine I’d add shelves wrapping round the corner where the clock is (couldn’t find great images as it kept giving me corner shelves!). I’d also move the fruit bowl along and add a vase of big stems where it is. Perhaps also a rug to zone the seating area?

3 years agoHi - your lovely warm grey cabinet colour comes from the end of the Yellow-Red Hue Family. Near neutral colours from this region can be prone to shifting purpleish — lavender at times, in certain imbalanced lighting.

Need help choosing colour for feature wall in kitchen/dining room
Comments (9)I love this colour but think that you won't notice the dark kitchen cabinets. To make your existing furniture stand out I think you need contrast. I think the earlier suggestion of orange is fun but to include the Brinjal I would paint the walls green and then add pops of the brinjal. Perhaps if you get some light picture frame add a border of brinjal to give them more presence. Comments (2)I would stick to neutral colours as your kitchen sounds quite contemporary and anything to flashy may upset the balance. Black glass looks very elegant but a white or transparent splash back will help to open the room up. Grey is a good middle ground but too much grey can look rather drab. I would say that the deciding factor should be the size of the kitchen as black may close the room in. But it is wise in my opinion to go for the same finish as you have for the work tops. 3 years agoKnowing to which Hue Family they belong, allows you to find companion colours from the geometry of the wheel. This example shows a chair, to work with the paint colour and other decorative items in a room. It comes from the complementary Hue Family.

3 years agolast modified: 3 years agoAnother idea for paint colours and accessories, is to work within this double complementary palette. You already have your kitchen from the Yellow-Red Hue Family and your teal colour from the Blue-Green Hue Family. You could pull a new wall colour from any of these regions and balance them with accessories from the others.
ALL paint colours can be measured to know which Hue Family they belong. That includes blacks, whites, off white, greys, all types of near neutrals as well as more colourful colours.
Have a look at the colorographies at The Land of Color .com and on Instagram - the_glassroom. They share lots of popular paint colours in their Hue Families.
On Insta have a look at the home of designer Abigail Ahern. She runs only 3 Hue Families on her ground floor but within those, incorporates all kinds of light, dark, near neutrals, muted and colourful colours. It’s what keeps the colour relationships harmonious but without looking dull.🌈

3 years agoSkimming Stone as Minnie says for sure, but if you want a deeper darker colour you could try Little Greene Knightbridge, all over.
