House Floor Plan Design Dilemma.
Comments (7)As a vague vision, (can help on detail if you think ok In principle) Ideally I’d reclaim the annexe for play/music/ kids room and annexe bed add ensuite as use for students. Turn cloak room to downstairs loo access from hall. current student bed into cloak/boots storage and utility. Open up current utility to access new cloak room and if you need extra kitchen space could put larder where wash machine etc is at moment, I would avoid too much wall movement as expensive assuming you need to save the money for new chalet in garden (friend achieved chalet style for around £65-70k). If you have budget I would certainly extend upstairs one side of house to make use of eades and up to full height so you could have as a minimum bunk bed arrangement or 2beds depending ages of your children. Pending budget could look into whether can get another bedroom up there. Obviously this is just a vision would need more detail to confirm, hope you can see mark up on plan attached...See MoreHelp needed for Exterior dilemma!
Comments (17)Sorry to hear of your plight. What a wonderful person you sound. It's a great house, and what a garden. Just wondering if you could have a slightly different approach to the overall look of the outside, due to the lack of space width wise. Instead of keeping it a double fronted house, have the large entrance on the left and don't extend sideways. That gives you the large hallway you want, plus loads of room for a downstairs loo, walk in closet for coats and the Utility beyond. You could probably get a full height window in the front from floor to roof line where the Hallway is, such as in your first preferred picture. ( I don't have one the right colour, but you'll get the gist ) It goes without saying that this is a mammoth project and you must get a good architect on board. It will be a long build, and doubtless you would not be able to live there whilst the building work is going on, so alternative accommodation is also something to take in to consideration with your budget. Something like this:-...See MorePeople parking outside your house
Comments (20)I'm on a private road (which we don't own) which sits sideways onto the main road. It drives us absolutely nuts if people park an inch from our living or dining room window plus they frequently block our "porch" so we can't even get out of the house. The house is absolutely perfect for us other than this. Funnily enough we're less annoyed when people park in our own drive! The main road has houses dating back to the 1300's so parking is a major issue other than the few with the original cartways as obviously the houses didn't need to accommodate for parking! We'd probably feel differently living in London or having a front garden but we find it such bad manners to park against someone's windows tbh. We're actually in a position ATM where we will probably move as a result of it as the parking situation will be exacerbated 😭...See MorePaving colour for driveway - To match or not to match?
Comments (138)These are my Japanese acers, I selected the shorter varieties since the drive isn't huge. The red one is approximately 10yo, the other two are 6-7 yo. They grow quite slow and stay compact,in my opinion. I tried to take the photos in front of our Cooper so you get the idea of the sizes. They are Garnet (2+ m) Bi Ho (2m) and Winter Flame (1.5m and it grew 50cm during the last three years). Acers can be shaped, I'll be removing some lower branches to add some structure. They are gorgeous in autumn and passers-by often stop to admire....See MoreJake Davies
