Hi Appy Dusad, We would love to help you with your gates! We've huge experience in this area and I'm sure we will be able to help you. One thing to bear in mind is that if you would like your gates automated we might need to run cables, or put loops under your drive way. Similarly if you would like a light at the entrance to your property it would might need cabling. This would have to go underneath what ever landscaping you put in place. Two problems with block paving. 1). Weeds which seed in all the grouting - a never ending job to try and remove it. 2) if the blocks are made of concrete, then the colour fades over time as only the outside is coloured. They all end up a dirty grey. However clay block pavers keep their colour as, like house bricks, the colour is all the way through. They do cost about 3 times more than the concrete ones. Still have problems with pesky weeds though! i too like the bonded resin gravel and my sister is shortly removing her block pavers and having bonded resin laid instead.

Hi jam15, The cost of fitting a driveways will depend on the size and material choice of course. The prices for natural stone paving option will range between £20-£28 per square metre, that's excluding labour costs. So to buy paving slabs for an area of around 15 square metres will cost about £400. To bring down the cost you could actually choose to fit poor quality material but the problem is many sellers are reluctant to provide discounts as they pre-buy materials and they don't want to compromise on their margin. Update: we bottled out and went for traditional wooden gates in the end! We're delighted with them (and so is our dog who can see right through!). Took the advice to remove the pillar lights and placed uplighters at the bottom of the pillar and planted roses under them. As always, thank you for all your wonderful comments and help.
