Stuck on wall and carpet colour...
Comments (5)Thanks Brandi. Would you stick with the bluey green colour for walls and carpet? or have off white walls and a carpet that ties with the background colour of the curtains? The key thing I'm concerned about is maximising the light. Thanks...See MoreDark dark bedroom walls what colour carpet
Comments (5)Dear Claire, I'd choose wooden floors any day over carpeted floors as they're much more durable and give an airier feel, however if you end up agreeing with your husband on having the room carpeted I'd recommend a warm grey carpet like my design shows below: When it comes to a wooden floor a whitewashed look might look modern but could provide too harsh a contrast, instead I'd opt for a mid-tone warm grey or pale brown. Hope this helps! Irene...See MoreWhich neutral colour to use for walls and carpet?
Comments (5)Hi, congratulations on your new home purchase ! Neutral for the entire home is a good idea if you want a consistent feeling and flow through the house, however I would consider looking at something that has a tad of interest or texture so that it doesn't become something you might get bored with? Also, I would personally try to avoid going down the grey route for an entire home, it can become over-powering. I have recently worked with wool carpets and depending on the rest of the style of your home I would highly recommend this - the have a lovely loop-style texture and a great range of neutral colours that are really versatile. They are also very comfortable and good for insulation if 100% wool. Here is one I have used previously, close-up and as a normal view which only subtly shows the different texture. The wall colour here is Natural Hessian by Dulux, and it compliments it well in all lights. I hope that helps or gives you some inspiration! Comments (8)I see what you mean, it is a bit bland. Your painting feels a bit too small on the chimney breast, so I'd hang that on the wall behind the TV. I think you should lose the wall lights. I think that you could paint the entire fireplace wall a nice greyish blue, maybe look at Dulux Denim Drift I'd hang a lovely round mirror on the chimney. I've put one with a wooden frame in, but it could be anything you like really. And I've also put a large canvas art piece above the dining table. I assume you've moved that against the wall because you're working from home etc. now? Otherwise I'd turn it around and centre it under the ceiling light. Are these ceiling lights your choice? Because I feel they could be updated too. Anyway... to give you a visual, I've created a bit of a messy photoshop picture...See More
