Kitchen colour Dilemma!!
Comments (11)Not being able to see all of the room and because the tiles, walls, units and worktop are all very similar in colour/tone, the tiles or splashback could be darker/richer in colour or with a coloured pattern. Tie in the wall colour to the tiles/splashback, for example, a mid grey tile/splashback and then paint the walls in a darker tone of grey or you could have for example blue and white coloured tiles and the walls in the same or a similar tone to the blue in the tiles. Decide what colours you like and go for tiles and wall paint with that colour. Just make sure you steer clear of pastel colours as the units and worktop are pale. You could then add accessories in a bright colour (if you opt for grey walls, with your grey flooring, orange would work very well) or again pick out the colour from your tiles/splashback/walls!...See MoreKitchen unit colour dilemma- please help.
Comments (8)The room looks very modern and spacious and having 2 colours in a kitchen is very popular. With regards to wall units (see image below where shelves have been used) & fridge/freezers, it really is down to personal preference but American fridge/freezers are very bulky, but they do give a lot of fridge space, although the freezers do tend to be a little small. Shelving can look nice and it could keep costs down. Decisions, decisions :-) Here are some pics of shaker kitchens that our customers have sent us with 2 different colours that they have used in their kitchens. Comments (1)Before you get the paint brush out - add some top lights to the wall cabinets - allowing warm light to bounce up to the ceiling and back down again . You might find that lifts the feel of the place without all the effort of re painting doors ....See MoreKitchen colour dilemma
Comments (9)Sonia - thanks for your reply. The photo was a bit misleading in that the units and island are actually cream not white and the worktop we have chosen is not plain white but has flecks of grey in it as well as a few bits of silver sparkle. See photo below. I like your sisters kitchen but the main warmth I feel comes from the lovely wooden floor which obviously we do not have. I thought with the worktop and floor tiles both having grey in them, that would link in with having the units painted grey as we want a change from the cream. See tiled floor photo below. My main question was whether to incorporate a colour such as yellow ochre on a wall as an accent colour or have the walls a pale shade of grey and use say blinds, cushions and maybe a splash back in yellow. We don’t want to paint over the pine dresser or doors as all our doors are pine so both sides would have to be the same and it would then look odd in the hallway against the other doors. Our house is a farmhouse style hence all the pine and outdated or not we quite like it! 😜...See MoreEm B
