everything but the kitchen sink!

I’ve chosen everything for our new kitchen except the kitchen sink !! As we are not having draining grooves on our quartz work top I thought it might be useful to have a double sink. Anyone love or hate theirs? I’m thinking of ceramic but finding it difficult to find a double ceramic under mount sink with no overflow. Ideally I’d like a black tap with waste ti match but it’s proving illusive. Any suggestions ? Thanks

My sister has an under mounted ceramic sink in her shaker kitchen and it looks great. Although her kitchen is shaker, it has a bit of a modern vibe. Love the idea of a double sink. I’ll see if I can find a picture.

@Damian Farrell, the induction hob I've had since... what.. July or August? I think? Not that long. Took a while to get used to it, having always cooked on gas. Advantages: very quick, easy to clean, you can let it automatically turn off after a certain time. Disadvantages: sometimes the pans make annoying noises, has something to do with the resonance of the magnetic field I think? I don't know. But it can be a bit annoying. Make:Schott-Ceran, but the downdraft is from a Dutch company called Airo Design. Don't think they export to other countries. Anyway, almost every company does them now. Bora gets good reviews, Miele, Siemens... The videos on youtube show that the steam goes down and you think, yeah... right... But it really does go down. It works just as good, if not better than a regular one that is over the hob. I'm happy with it.

This is def looking like more than £150k. £200k is more conservative estkmate. Be careful re: planning laws, you are often able to extend up to 50% more (volume) but you have to take into account existing extensions. So I think workshop in garden would focus the extension on areas you need within the house and not use up % of floor plan unnecessarily. Larger single storey (with velux), smaller extension upstairs would allow light downstairs and prob be more acceptable to neighbours and planning. Moving bathroom is expensive but if you keep kitchen, utility, soil pipe to one side it will create efficiencies. There is a wish list and then practicalities from planning permission and budget perspective which will need professional input. Light tunnels are a relatively cheap but useful way of getting light to darker places.

HI Sonia, Thanks So my sink will be an undermounted and the tap hole will be made in the worktop itself.... Standard worktop I assume is 600mm and undermount sink depth is 430mm which doesnt leave a huge amount at either end, so I'm unsure how this design has been achieved and if this is how it should ideally look?

I agree, the sink needs to be centred on the window, or somewhere else completely! A floor plan would help those who draw up clever designs, there are a good few on here. Daisy’s suggestion of going to an independent is a good one, they tend to be more interested in achieving a design (and installation) that works for you, rather than having a sales target to achieve. I’ve always found Howdens waste space with infills. Used them when I worked in housing, nearly always had to send designs back with improvements to be made. Maybe I should have just drawn up the designs myself. 😂

Are you having a boiling water tap? lf so don’t have a ceramic sink as they are prone to cracking.

I have a stainless steel. Easy to clean. Just one large bowl in mine. l do have drainer grooves, but they’re not effective.
