“Julie was terrific. It was a small job, new window treatments (4 windows) in a master bedroon. She arrivied on time, brought samples as I requested and was very helpful in the selection of fabric. I was replacing old designer drapes so I knew what I wanted and she understood. She kept things simple and easy, wonderful to work with. Drapes arrives earlier than expected, and the installer she suggested was perfect. He arrived, and as predicted was able to mount the brackets and solve my problem of old, crumbling plaster. “I have used Nellie of Drapes & More LLC for over a year on a variety of projects. I can personally attest to her superb skills with needles, thread, material, and a sewing machine. Her work is thoroughly professional - no one can ask for more than that! Nellie is such a pleasure to work with throughout any project. The largest project she did for us was the bedding for our master bedroom. We started with a chat, worked through selecting the right materials, she provided a drawing showing how the colors would look together, we made some changes, and she came to our home two times to fit the spread to insure that the fit was perfect. Additionally, she's made two little pillows out of one big one and altered both men's and women's clothing. Nellie certainly is an excellent resource for a wide variety of home and personal design projects. I highly recommend her without any hesitation.”

“I have worked with Judy Wilfong for about a year on multiple projects. I have found her to be professional, responsive, and knowledgable. She delivers on time and within budget. Equally important to me is the more personal relationship that has developed. She has, so to speak, "gotten into my head." She understands my comfort zone and helps me push those boundaries a bit. The outcome is a wonderful mix that includes a bit of the unexpected. And I love it. I have looked through her portfolio and the more formal designs she presents are lovely. When choosing curtains, consider their function, whether for privacy, light blocking, or decor enhancement. Take into account the room’s style, choosing curtains that complement the overall decor in terms of colour, pattern, and fabric texture. Measure the window accurately to ensure the curtains are the right size and length, considering whether you prefer floor-length or sill-length curtains. Select curtain fabrics based on light-blocking abilities, durability, and ease of cleaning.
In general, your curtains width should be double the width of your windows. For length, this depends on if you want floor length, sill length curtains or below sill. For sill length curtains, they should sit 1cm above the windowsill. Below length curtains generally sit around 15cm under the sill. For floor length curtains, ensure there is at least a 1cm gap between them and the floor. If your window has a radiator underneath it, the curtains should stop around 2-3cm above the radiator to avoid heat being absorbed by the curtain.
Simply measure from where you want your blinds to start (the rail), to where you want your blinds to finish. Add 10-15 cms to this to prevent light bleed. To ensure your blinds fit correctly, take measurements at 3 equal points across your window and use the longest size.
Any fabric can be used, but generally the most common types of fabric used are cotton, silk, linen, polyester, and combinations of these due to their lighter weight and insulating properties.
