“I've known Debbie Krupa for twelve years and she has done work for me in three of my homes during that time. She does beautiful work! She has made draperies, comforters, chair cushions for my kitchen, throw pillows, etc. and the quality of work is exceptional and working with her was such a great experience. She is full of great ideas and is very helpful with even picking the proper hardware for the draperies. I would highly recommend her.”

I'd just moved into my West Chester townhouse and was working with Celeste on updating my new digs with a much needed floors-to-ceilings re-decor and re-design. Celeste had collaborated with Vita on many of her home interiors, conceptualizing, designing, and installing new window treatments, so it was a no-brainer for me to welcome Vita onto my home's project -- especially so after meeting her and seeing the stunning portfolio of her work. Vita created hand-drawn concepts for a variety of window treatments for the triplet bay windows in my kitchen and worked with Celeste on finding beautiful, perfectly co-ordinated draperies, blinds, and hardware to go with the new interiors in my living room, sitting room, master and 2nd bedrooms, home office and gym. When choosing curtains, consider their function, whether for privacy, light blocking, or decor enhancement. Take into account the room’s style, choosing curtains that complement the overall decor in terms of colour, pattern, and fabric texture. Measure the window accurately to ensure the curtains are the right size and length, considering whether you prefer floor-length or sill-length curtains. Select curtain fabrics based on light-blocking abilities, durability, and ease of cleaning.
In general, your curtains width should be double the width of your windows. For length, this depends on if you want floor length, sill length curtains or below sill. For sill length curtains, they should sit 1cm above the windowsill. Below length curtains generally sit around 15cm under the sill. For floor length curtains, ensure there is at least a 1cm gap between them and the floor. If your window has a radiator underneath it, the curtains should stop around 2-3cm above the radiator to avoid heat being absorbed by the curtain.
Simply measure from where you want your blinds to start (the rail), to where you want your blinds to finish. Add 10-15 cms to this to prevent light bleed. To ensure your blinds fit correctly, take measurements at 3 equal points across your window and use the longest size.
Any fabric can be used, but generally the most common types of fabric used are cotton, silk, linen, polyester, and combinations of these due to their lighter weight and insulating properties.
