It is Sikkens Coopernal Butternut oil based stain. on Cedar wood. www.AmaronBuilders.com

Fairy is a must. But I buy the commercial Fairy Professional one which cleans in a fifth of the time. I whole heartedly agree with Miele. I regard Staub much higher than Le Creuset myself. E. Dehillerin and Mauviel for cookware and future heirlooms really. David Austin for roses. Felco for secateurs. For most things a bit of research really turns up the best products, some that you will never known existed that will become a staple in your life that you will use and use again.

If your contractor is preparing them - ie sanding back - then you could maybe use Neptune Isoguard treatment oil. I've used the seasoned oak finish ( on an oak floor admittedly - not Pine) and it gives a lovely whitened wood finish similar to their Henley kitchen colour - but you can put more on or less to alter the effect ?! It's in our lounge - so pretty high traffic - and stands up well ! It's a bit expensive ... But worth it in my experience!

It looks really lovely! So what kind of kitchen will yours have? It would be useful for us to know the colour of that, since it's all open plan. I made a sort of moodboard for you of what I'm thinking. I did it with your original sofa choice and slipper chair choice in mind. Wanted to show you a slightly more square slipper chair with a more modern graphic pattern. Don't look at the design of the other sofa, I picked it more for colour than for shape. Just to show you a darker beige. And it goes nicely with that chair. But I like the cream or your original choice too. Will see if I can make a grey version for you and/or something with teal.

Oh I wrote a whole para out and realised it's not posted! Argh! Anyway - we did a lighter coat last night but it looks awful The colour is COMPLETELY different to the tin colour by about 5 tones! I complained this morning to Cuprinol and they are sending me a voucher Husband did a poll at work and they all said it's way too light as it's turned out a dove grey colour! (Bit lighter than my photo) and has no depth to it. So I now have to redo it in the urban slate which is also a lot lighter than the tin colour so it's probably what silver birch should look like
