Living room furniture lay-out advice
Comments (10)Hi Clair, It is indeed a very tricky room with all the doorways around and the need to keep flow. The best in these cases is usually to go for flexible pieces of furniture that can be moved around easily to adjust the room to your needs, so I'm afraid that an L shaped sofa might not be the best choice as you mention yourself no matter how you look at it you might be disrupting a flow somewhere. Poufs, Ottomans, Small vintage nursing chairs (these are on wheels so can be moved around), are all great options. For example this picture where the poufs are placed under the coffee table and can be taken out when additional seating or even side tables are required. Comments (3)Hi there, Looking at your layout and depending on how many people will be seated I suggest looking into corner shaped sofa along the long wall closer to the window so that you can set up a TV on the opposite wall and get the most out of your space. However it does mean you may lose a little bit of the light from the doors. Alternatively you could have a 2 seater sofa and an armchair where your cupboards are to hide it a bit and still give you plenty of seating. For your dining table I suggest to keep this closer to the kitchen. From the floor plan I don't think you will be able to have a very large table so if you do plan to entertain I suggest to buy an extending dining table. I am not sure how far the kitchen comes, if it is beyond the door on the opposite wall? Then I would suggest to going for a two seater sofa instead. Hope this helps, thanks Rukmini...See MoreLiving Room Layout and Furniture Ideas Needed
Comments (3)Here you go, had to guess some of the dimensions of the apartment, but it's roughly correct, I think. Used the dimensions of your sofa. Used a 150 x 45 cm TV unit. Dining table 90 cm. Hope it helps. You have about 65-70 cm between the back of the sofa and the balcony door. My advise is to get creative with paper and/or tape and put the dimensions of your sofa down on the floor in the apartment. It will give you an idea of how much space it leaves to walk around. It's rather large for the size of the room, but I do like it and if you go for a light colour, it might just work. Try it out with paper or tape before you buy. You'll struggle to get that coffee table in there. I'd go for something smaller that you can easily put aside...See MoreAwkward living room layout / blocked off bits - which furniture?
Comments (12)I hadn't thought about trying to fit the seats into the bay window (Carolina's 2nd suggestion), that could work depending on the size of the seats. I'll have a think and see what might fit in with whatever sofa we're planning. Unfortunately, there's no ability to move the door into the room, it runs on the main supporting structure of the house and it's about 2 and a half feet thick. It's like the type of wall you'd expect at the Hohenwerfen Castle! (they're not all like this one, but that one's virtually impenetrable, the sturdy Hilti gun used to cut in additional power sockets during the re-wire was having a hell of a time getting through it, and that was just a couple of inches into the wall!!)...See MoreSonia
