An Island Statement
To meet Zoe’s brief for a design-conscious but functional kitchen, with a statement island and plenty of storage, Keith suggested filling the newly erected extension wall with an entire run of units. A large island with space to sit and chat could then be placed in front, and the remainder of the room dedicated to a dining area, with family snug beyond. Creating a practical, sociable layout that still enables every inch of original brickwork and steel windows to be showcased within the room. The handless units are finished in a timber-effect laminate to echo the warmth of the brick, while the integrated sink area and appliances are designed to keep the look uncluttered and without visual distraction. The addition of a mirrored splashback also helps create an illusion of extra space and has been strategically placed to reflect and link back to the snug so wherever the client is in the room there is still a sense of connection.
