Art Deco Inspired Walnut Herringbone Parquet with Oak Tramline Border| Ealing W5

This project was undertaken in a large period terraced house set along a tree lined street in Ealing, West London. The beautiful home, arranged over three floors, enjoys spectacular views across neighbouring parkland. We installed a walnut herringbone parquet floor, framed with a single row border and contrasting oak tramline detail. The square edge profile created a super flat, seamless surface, enhancing the precision of the pattern. The floor was finished with a high gloss lacquer, bringing out the richness and depth of the walnut while delivering a durable, polished finish. The result is a glamorous, Art Deco inspired, high gloss, walnut herringbone parquet.

The clients were drawn to a palette of gold accents and deep, rich tones, including warm browns and jade green, embracing a distinctly Art Deco aesthetic. Walnut is synonymous with this classic 1920s style, valued for its depth of colour and refined character. The lacquered finish enhances the richness of the timber, introducing a luxurious sheen reminiscent of ballroom glamour. Art Deco embraces bold geometric designs, and this rich walnut herringbone parquet with a high gloss finish perfectly captures that balance of pattern, colour and elegance.

This stunning new floor was part of a larger home renovation project. The new floor installation was carefully phased to accommodate the builders’ schedule and to ensure the newly laid flooring was fully protected following completion of each stage. Particular attention was given to setting out the floor, ensuring precise alignment and a symmetrical layout throughout. The walnut herringbone parquet was installed across the ground, first and second floors, creating a cohesive and continuous flow throughout the property. The subfloors had been prepared in advance by the building contractor, providing a suitable base for the installation.
