Glasslyn Road, London

A subtle loft extension was added to a terraced house in north London to create a master bedroom with en-suite shower room. This project incorporates photovoltaic panels on the roof to generate electricity while the structure has been insulated above current building regulation standards.

Various changes were required to improve the energy efficiency of the existing building and compensate for the large areas of glass. The whole building underwent a rigorous course of air sealing to prevent warm air escaping through small cracks in the walls, windows and roof. The result has provided much lower running costs and a comfortable internal environment.

On the upper floors the bedrooms were refurbished and new bathrooms have been provided with high quality finishes. The bathrooms are modern, utilising concealed lighting that illuminates the ceilings and enhances their bright and airy character.
